It appears that we are descending into Eldritch Geometries.  We must see how deep this rabbit hole goes.  Say...make it so most megabeasts prefer the layer types that cause these structures to be generated?  Maybe with a secondary preference of Labyrinths and having caves be tertiary?

Seriously. What. The. Fuck. Normal profanities fail me, and I need to think up some new ones. That roc aviary is worth at least two new curses. That lone minotaur's labyrinth is worth another three.

I have generated a new world that should be dorf compatable, and found yet another structure within the mountainous region, like the first. I have dubbed these building types "Eldritch Castles", as Zanzet has described them, and this particular structure shares many aspects with the last, but also some oddities.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And the parameters themselves. Set the end year to 2 or something if the fort ends up dying, if you can manage to generate it in the first place!

I like these arena-temples. Clearly the hand of Armok is at work here and these are His holiest of places.

I did some test embarks and came across more of these "Eldritch Castles", only in smaller format. One of those was smeared across multiple z-levels of mountainside but was still recognizable as one; too bad I didn't take any pictures of that one.

I'm starting to form a theory that the map generator tries to place all these shrines, lairs and labyrinths mostly at the same spot within the embark square. When the embark has hundreds of lairs etc. a mishmash like this is formed from all the features combined. Savagesilver embark had 156 different features of which only five were visible as separate lairs. I suppose the rest (with their residents) were clumped together to form the Fight Club arena.

Are those floors on the roof of the Camelllacradeled Fight Club made of microcline?

"After a polite discussion with local rivals, Rimtar Bridgedmirrors has claimed the position of king of The Road of Slaughters."

Uh oh. Sounds like another king has dueled with rampaging megabeast and lost. I was wondering why it took this long with this one.

The Road of Slaughters has had a new king nearly every year since the beginning; according to legends they all died in a duel against a monster attacking the city. By the way, there is another word for when the citizens push an unpopular monarch out of the door to a certain doom in hopes it saves the others from destruction:

Sacrifice.

Since normal profanity fails us perhaps we should make new ones.

Let's invoke black speech.

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

Are you trying to crush our brain with awesome....

This may kill us all......but do it. Find a volcanic fight club

(I hope the toad never removes the lair overlap, this is worthy of ascended glitch status)

One of my test embarks was on a volcano; sadly the fight club there wasn't actually located inside the magma pipe but a bit lower on the slopes of the mountain.

I'm trying to imagine it from the point of view of a random Bronze Collosus:
*The Dragon throws you by your upper body*
*You are melting!*

Meanwhile, the dragons take a nice refreshing bath in the lava.

That reminds me I've seen a colossus get so killed they didn't leave a statue.

Lemme see, there's the result from leading twenty or so Rocs to a lair with three Dragons next door:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Here's uh... too many Rocs and Colossi to bother counting (they were all blinking in and out multiple times due to how stacked they were):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh, here we go, I walked in on two Colossi in battle with the dragon in the back, it killed one and produced the statue, the other just got torn apart:

So that's it! I was wondering when the dwarves hauled countless pieces of "X's upper arm bronze' etc. from the arena structure. I have now sixteen bronze statues in addition to six captured colossi but I think there were originally more colossi than that.

BTW, Savagesilver still haven't had any megabeast visitors. Are they too busy attacking other settlements on this continent? Maybe I'll just have to wait few years to get their undivided attention as the other sites get destroyed.
