The remaining shaman stepped closer to Noel and Ayzebel.

"I... I can't transport you to... to the camp on my own." He mumbled out the obvious.

[GiglameshDespair]

"Then what?"

Ayzebel hissed as she pulled the arrows out before sipping at the fungal tonic.

"Can we still continue at all?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"If you idiots had LISTENED to me, you wouldn't be the last one left. Whatever. Can we still sneak in, or is this plan a total failure?"

[Haspen]

"I would rather prefer that you drop your silly plan and surrender." Several bladesmen, backed by mages and archers, stepped from behind the trees and bushes from north, east and south. A young woman in the blue armor of Kovalia approached from the west. With her included, there were now about fifteen to twenty Kovalians surrounding Noel, Ayzebel and the other shaman.

"Before you do anything rash, I will inform you that Prince Aliberti and Princess Rosana have been captured and most of their little troupe killed. Put down your weapons if you want to be brought to them alive rather than dead."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Noel put his back to Ayzebel's and grabbed the shaman's shoulder, pulling him to his side so he could whisper to him.

"_{Can you get ONE of us out?}"

[Haspen]

_{"N-no... the amount of people to transport is not the issue, it's the number of casters required-}

"MAYHAPS I wasn't clear enough. Cease your schemings and decide! Do you surrender or not?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"_{Damn it. There goes that plan.}"

"I suppose we have no choice. If I may ask, how did you know we were out here?"

[Haspen]

"Why not. You think that General Oinkand, born and raised in Kovalia, would so eagerly go and murder our people? In fact, the whole rebellion was kept in the dark due to his involvement. Without someone so high in Zorostrian ranks, we wouldn't have a smallest chance of success."

"Capture of Prince Aliberti was his idea also. He learned that the Prince is rash in decisions and eager to prove himself in battle, and also blindly loyal to the chains of command. So a bait was planted, General Oinkand formed the 'assasination plan' for your people, and then we just had to wait for Prince Aliberti to show up near our encampment so that our pegasus riders could snatch him. Simple, effective, successful."

"Last chance. Drop your weapons and surrender." The mugshot-less shaman dropped his tome and raised his hands without further questioning.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Oh for fuck's sake. They suspected Chance and Maribel, who weren't even on this plane of existence at the time the rebellion started, but let a high ranking general in charge of the defense just slip through the net? No, you know what? Here. Take the damn tome. If our leaders really let this sort of thing happen we deserved to have failed."

Noel held his tome out, a disgusted expression on his face.

[GiglameshDespair]

There seemed to be a ringing in her ears, puncuated only by the thunder of her heartbeat. Despite that, her voice was level.

"What happened to the healer that was with Prince Aliberti?"

[Haspen]

"Healer? We've put the healers to do their job, of course. They're always valuable in the wartime."

"Your sword and bow, now."

[GiglameshDespair]

Ayzebel breathed out. So Irios was probably alive. Good. That meant she had to survive and rescue him, if possible. She glanced around at the surrounding troops.

Her tiny knife was concealed, along with a lockpick, so if they weren't discovered she had a decent chance of escaping.

"Well, then, it seems I have no choice. I surrender."
She unbuckled her sword and let her bows drop to the ground.

[Haspen]

The guards took the weapons.

//All (well, almost all) of both groups' weapons have been confiscated by Kovalian troops. You will be issued new stuff later.

"Captain Alma, we have all their weapons."

"Great. We're heading back to the camp, keep'em in line people." And so Noel and Ayzebel and the other shaman were marched from the forest into the camp, which was located just few minutes away to the west.

Inside the camp, the atmosphere was jovial, so to speak. Few wounded were resting while the rest was apparently partying, or at least loudly celebrating something. Not many have paid attention to trio of new captives.

They were soon put into a fenced area - like a livestock - where Chance, Kerr and all others were. Few cavaliers were here as well. Irios and one other healer were nearby, not especially happily tending to Kovalian wounded. Both the fenced area and the healers were being watched by several soldiers stationed around.

Prince Aliberti and Princess Rosana were missing, though.

Just as the fence was being 'closed' after Noel and his two companions were herded in, a young squire ran up to the caramel-haired captain and whispered something.

"Oh, of course." She motioned for the guards to open the fence a bit. "You, green-haired man, you are Noel the historian?"

Noel nodded.

"I am. Why, do you want me to document the military's complete bungling against the rebellion?"
