How to add cactus to badlands
« on: April 13, 2015, 09:01:43 pm »

Is there an easy way to make all badland\wasteland types generate with some cactus? Sparse/Sparse?

They already should. The [BIOME:ANY_DESERT] token covers badlands and there's no other tree in vanilla that has it. If the region would have any capacity for trees, there'd be a saguaro there.

The vast majority of bad lands have no trees/bushes.  They are none/none. Which is borning. I like embarking on deserts for the lack of tree noise but finding a desert with sparse/sparse is really difficult. Is there a way to force it ?

Not that I know of. Plant life in badlands is just like plant life in mountains; you can get it on the edges, but it's forced to not existent on the actual terrain itself.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

You might be able to accomplish this via worldgen settings?

Deserts are any biome with less than 10 urists of rainfall per year, and presumably the deserts with sparse plants are those with more water. So if you change the minimum rainfall to let's say 5 in advanced worldgen, all of your deserts would have sparse plants.

Please note, 5 is just a guess, it might be only the 8-9 deserts that grow plants. I really don't know.
