Any cool visual mods I should know about?
« on: April 16, 2015, 08:44:08 am »

I am new to Dwarf Fortress and I am somewhat getting used to the visual interface, but I want to make it look even cooler than it is. Any suggestions?

Text Will Be Text fixes 90% of the problems with DF's renderer, allowing for seeing below the current Z level in a shadowy form, having a separate graphics and font tileset, and so on.

Rendermax is I believe out of date, and incompatible with TWBT, but adds a lighting engine.

Other things that are UI related:
Dwarf Therapist fixes a ton of problems with the labor interface.
Stonesense is an isometric visualizer that's being worked into an overlay to play with.
Isoworld is like Stonesense in that it's isometric and visualizes the DF world.
Soundsense adds a sound engine.

Suggestion: Get TWBT, soundsense, dwarf thereapist, and get a tileset if you want.

All of those are included in the lazy newb packs so you can just download the pack and launch the addons.
