PTW. This is a sad day for the game industry.
Also:

First off, lots of Valve hate everywhere I look, which begs the question why people who hate Valve are using Steam. Buy games off Desura. Get physical copies of games. If you're buying game's on the extremely convenient platform that Valve has made, it kinda undercuts your moral high ground. It doesn't matter if the games you want are only on Steam; by using Steam, you're implicitly supporting the business practices you so ardently despise.

I'd point out that pretty much everyone who is complaining about this issue had steam before it happened. When they started using the platform they had no way to know that such a thing would happen, so I don't see how being a steam user prevents you from opposing them, especially since they are the ones who suffer from this at the moment.

Two things that are tangentially related to the topic.

Second, the paid mod update was accompanied by Skyrim going on sale, so I got Dawnguard and Dragonborn for 66% off, and, since I've stopped giving a shit about paid mods and am just waiting for the dust to settle, I'm happy about that.
Maybe people in Europe or North America can afford to buy games in Desura or GOG, but in my case that is just not possible. First because I'd have to pay in dollars (and the exchange rate is currently US$1 = R$3, not counting any fees for the conversion), while Steam allows me to use local currencies. Retail rarely has stuff I'm actually interested in, and when they do it's incredibly expensive due to a 70% tax on (physical copies only, fortunately) software.

So I only have three options: I can stop playing games (no), I can use Steam, or I can pirate.

Boycotting is just not an option for some people.

You have three options.

Well who cares that you still use steam?
Anyone using steam gives them no revenue.
Just don't buy new games from now on and all is set.
That's what i'm going to do as i have a big enough backlog already.

In related news, the aggregate rating for Skyrim on Steam has dropped from "Overwhelmingly Positive" to "Very Positive" in less than two days.

Worst case scenario - the GECK for F4 (or TES6 creation kit, whatever comes first) will have "publish to Steam Workshop" instead of "save to disk".

Also note that Szkájrim had over 100,000 ratings, which means it would take a shitload of negative reviews to pull it down again.

The entitled dead gamers are not putting up with this.

I hope you're joking, because we've already gone over this multiple times.

Sarcasm. I thought maybe the "Gamers Are Dead" reference would make my opinion clear.

That's sad. That game looked like it had potential.

And also, the workshop is being flooded with joke mods that ridicule the paid ones. I am happy with that.
