Sorry for the lack of updates. I can either:
  • Resume were I left off: You guys decide Cikul's next task.
  • Start a new adventure mode exploration: Make suggestions for what type of place you want to be explored and what type of explorer you would like to see.
  • Do pseudo-historical record of a fortress of my creation: you choose a real-world or fantasy culture and I will try to emulate them with my dwarves and give you screenshots, feedback, and stories.
I'll take suggestions until November 21. Thanks for reading.

You should check out the Victorian Mod.

Russian Dorfs, French Goblins, Ottoman Elves, German Trolls, Prussian Ogres, Greek Kobolds. I think at least.

Very interesting mix of races and such.

In whatever form, the anthropology must go on.

I think I've reached the autism level (11) required to succeed in fortress mode (a joke about Spinal Tap and the learning curve of DF, not autism), so I'm confident about going either way with the anthropology. I just need to stop digging to cavern level before my army has decent equipment so that it doesn't turn in to a retarded version of the Charge of the Light Brigade where I have 13 well-trained dwarves fighting 2 rutherers and a cave crocodile with their fists to the point of unconscious exhaustion (and death, once the crocodile woke up from his exhaustion) because they were too damn stupid to get weapons (or armor) ahead of time.

I have decided on playing fortress mode and giving you guys kind of a cultural history of the fort from the perspective of an omnipresent anthropologist bystander. I am started a new thread in the fortress mode sub-forum (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=154039.0). Hopefully, I will see you there.

It's interesting that they think you're a murderer after killing bandits they asked you to kill. How odd.
From what I have heard, this is quite a common glitch in 40.24.

Also, "I attacked me" pfft.
That brought humor to such a grizzly and danger-filled day of bandit killing.

did they call you a murderer or a killer there is  a HUGE difference in DF killer means you killed things, murder means they think you killed someone who they were okay with.
Also, are you SURE they were bandits? these places have guards who may look like bandits when they aren't.

Actually, that would be really cool, if you could get Robin Hood-style situations where somebody usurps the leadership of a town and hires bandits/mercenaries to "keep the peace".

They called me a killer, but they also called me unhinged for killing the bloody bandits. I was half tempted to kill the ungrateful cowards one-by-one, but I deemed it a waste of my time.

Not so cool if the whole ordeal turns into the Altamont Free Concert when the stupid bandits attack me for no reason, get absolutely wrecked, and the cowardly villagers complain that I'm unstable for killing in self-defense against known criminals.

Someone needs to make a mod where you can smash and burn houses and buildings in adventure mode.

You can actually do that.

The player can, or the NPCs can?

The player can.

I know NPCS can do rebellions and stuff too, but doubtful they would do it exactly this way.

Even in this play-through, I captured a hall or two. It's a lot of fun shouting that you own a site, killing the lord or ruler to finalize your claim, and unnecessarily maiming subsequent villagers who peacefully disagree with your rulership after you talk to them about it.

You can also get people to join you in your rebellion via the "join insurrection" option if you ask them about their rulers.

No one has ever agreed to assist me, but it's more fun to do it alone anyway.
