Dwarf Fortress 0.22.120.23a Released

Changes

Lots of bugs fixed this time around.  I caught a lot of the stay-inside problems, but there are probably some new issues with random jobs now.  I'll fix these as I hear about them.  I'll also correct any additional stay-inside problems as I hear about them.  It should be easier now that more infrastructure is in place.

There's also some creature graphics stuff you can play with.  See "raw/graphics/graphics_example.txt" to mess around with it.  You'll also need to set [GRAPHICS:YES] in "init/init.txt".  I only drew a miner picture, and a blobby dwarf thing, so I don't recommend this unless you are going to draw/use some additional tiles.

That sounds like a big bug fixing/feature adding update.

Thank you Toady (Even though, I don't think that  I'll have time playing befor a few weeks...)

Wow, that is a massive list of bug fixes over the past couple of releases. That's more bugs fixed than most commercial games. Way to go, Toady.  ;)

Wow.  No sleeping after the Thanksgiving meal for you, huh?

I'm really looking forward to seeing what people do with the tiles.  I'm not sure I'll use them, but cool option.

"That's more bugs fixed than most commercial games"

Maybe because there are more bugs ?   ;)

But it is still alpha... So quite normal

Is that creature graphics section in the init file new?  Didn't notice that before...

my last large post on this thread has the state of it

I haven't set up items yet, but I don't think it would take very long -- there might be some issues with getting them to display once you place them as buildings.

Is transparency supported yet? I'm not sure whether I've saved at the wrong depth or such but the black hole effect around characters remains.

Totally did. I think I must have blacked out during the layering bit.

But it usually takes them three or four patches to squash that many bugs. Those three or four patches are no-less necessary however.

Of course it does depend on the developer, some are more notorious for bugs than others, and some are notorious for never patching their games to a playable degree (Nival *coughcough* Silent Storm: Sentinels *cough*).. and I have to give them some slack because (I read somewhere) in so many lines of code there are going to be so many errors, and adding highly graphical environments, three-dimensional interactions, multiplayer, etc means a lot more lines of code.
