Dwarf Fortress 0.27.176.38b Released
« on: February 24, 2008, 05:07:00 am »

Download (Click refresh on your browser if it doesn't show up)

Changes

Barring some tragic mistake, this is also the last bug fix release before the continuation of the Army Arc.  Again, this release is made up mostly of small changes that people wanted and some bug fixes for the worst problems introducted during the last release.  See the dev log for a complete list.

This is the first Mac release.  Let me know how that works -- there are bound to be a ton of problems.  Please read the ATTENTION MAC USER.txt that comes with the archive.

the mac version feels rather slow on a 2nd-generation macbook; slower than through crossover i'd say. i'd like to run some tests but the fps counter seems set at 0 no matter what.

where should we write down all the mac-y stuff?

Might as well put Mac stuff here for now.  Part of the lag is coming from the logic/graphics not being decoupled as they are in the Windows version, so if you are running at 100 logical FPS, you'd be refreshing that often, which will put a natural damper on things.  There could be other problems as well, but I'm not currently aware of them.  I'd be able to fix the FPS counter if I can figure out how to query the timer...  I'm not sure if the code is in there are not.  I'm going to put up a Kobold Quest 1.06 tomorrow which might be useful to diagnose problems.

PPC seems totally shot for now.  I've seen the bug report threads, and I'll try to start sorting it out tomorrow, though I'm going to be basically worthless on my own for anything Mac-technical.

Anyway, 5AM, time for bed.

Great work Toady. I hope your back doesn't still hurt. =x

Edit: Smaller worlds! Now I can finally try modding something without difficulty. Thanks! :D

Oh, such a dilemma! Trappable merchants or tiny worlds?

Nothing wrong with that  :) Considering how often I generate new worlds, this is greatly appreciated.

3. They're Scottish.

He he, the back is still terrible actually, but it'll mean I can take one more shot at the Mac fix before I try to sleep again.  I should have another PPC attempt up in an hour or so.
