Dwarf Fortress 0.21.104.21b Released
« on: September 16, 2006, 12:00:00 am »

Download

Changes

There's a skeleton of a workshop profile now.  It is in progress and undocumented.  You can select workers to work at the shop either by name or by skill level.  The list is not ordered yet.  You can use the mouse on this screen.  It's also written up in a new way that is independent of the 80x25 window to facilitate some more flexibility later on.

Many small fixes (read the dev log).

You seem to be viewing an old page cached by your browser.  Press the refresh/reload button, that should force it to update.

Excuse dumbness, but I couldn't find the new screen.

I thought it could be entered through the [q] menu, but nothing. Every other attempt at spotting it failed.

Consolidating pets means buying them or releasing them from cages.

The new profile is obtained from [q], but only if you have a manager.  Then it should be listed under capital P.

Is there a way to just turn off job cancellation notices related to barrels and bins completely?  They happen so often that I tend to just ignore any message that starts with "job cancelled...", which is a problem.

And really, unless I'm missing something there's no point in showing the player these barrel-job-cancels at all.  It doesn't tell them anything, and it's not a problem they can solve.  Changing the wording makes it a bit less alarming to new players, but why not just remove them entirely?  The player doesn't need to know every time one dwarf grabs a barrel that another one was planning on using.

I only kept them because somebody requested it.  I could make them optional or something.

Actually, while on that idea Toady, could we make all the messages toggle-able?

(ie, most of the time, I dont really care about the barrel message, animal births, animal maturation, or animal adoptions - but I know some people do (and for that matter, I do sometimes.. just not most of the time).

Keep up the awesome work, DF is a blast!
