I'm playing the game on WINE, because I suck at installing Linux programs and have yet to successfully do so.

For some reason, WINE crashes every election starting at 2013.

What gives? The only workaround is to disband and wait, and that just leads to what amounts to starting all over.

This Problem also happen without WINE. I play on Windows XP and LCS occasionally crashes on election. A few months ago I posted this Problem and nowbody reponded http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=144468.0 .
This is probably the worst bug in the Game.

Yeah I clearly remember there being multiple posts aboot this bug, and how disbanding and reforming was the only workable solution for the moment, but I'm confident this was fixed at some point, even if I can't seem to find the post that says that it was. (Apologies for all those commas)

Anyway you could try newer versions and hope for the best?

That is... odd.

I have never encountered that bug, although there is something in the version that I use (development 0.5 of the Terra Vitae mod) that crashes sporadically on the end of months. Restarting the game usually fixes it, though.

Can you tell me anything more about the scenario? E.g. what are the laws, etc.?

Anything, really. A couple of times it crashed during the Congress elections, even.

The question is if it crashes reliably - i.e. you have a save file that always crashes when reaching that date. If it doesn't, then the bug is much harder to find and fix, but also easier to work around (just restart the program).

Whenever I encounter the problem, the save gets stuck with it until I disband and reform. This once happened a couple times in the same game, forcing me to break up a few times.

On Windows XP the Problem always accurs during the Important Propositions. This means, if there are only inportant Propositions, it crashes with the message "The elections are today" otherwise The President and Parliament are elected normally, and it crashes if you press any key to see continue elections.
First the game freezes, and you hear intensive hard disk aktivity for a few seconds and then it crashes. I am not sure, if the disk activity comes from LCS or the crash handler.
Most of the time, the game crashes deterministically, so restarting does not help, thought once I managed it to restart and continiue. If you want a buggy safe file I try to post one the next time it happens.
I loosly recall the crash handler reporting a call of prozessor-interupt 5h, that is a boundry violation, caused by the assembly instruction BOUND, executed before acessing an array.

Yeah it dumped core. Unfortunately without a debugger, that isn't too useful, although I suppose I could wonder what function it's in. It looks like something that on a Unix-based machine would cause an error called a segmentation fault.

4.07.0 isn't the newest version, just the newest 'official' 'stable' version

And I am still unsure if this bug got fixed (I remember SOMETHING aboot it, but now it eludes me) but for what it counts I haven't run into it lately, though I haven't been playing much lately either.
