Does anybody know how to cool down something burning hot?
I poured some water over it but it didn't work.

Meanwhile in Kobold Kamp, 42 bolds and still no sign of dwarven scouts.

EDIT: 12th mid-spring, our second year and we have our first birth. Twins in fact. The bad news? Our warmaster is the mother.

However, since stress seems to be broken, that means baby armor should be perfectly viable.

12 slain and 13 injured, some critically, in a tavern riot in Bloodgorges.  Eyewitnesses say that a Human Dancer was the instigator, but that matters were clearly out of hand by the time a Human Poet began firing his crossbow blindly into the crowd.  12 residents were slain, and others suffered injuries ranging from scrapes and bruises to the loss of an eye.  Medical staff are standing by, but the dance troupe that caused the disturbance was subjected to swift and summary justice by the military.  No word was given as to the cause of the fracas, but one of the yellow-haired humans was heard shouting slogans to "Make the Empire of Sinew great again!"

EDIT: Just found out this little scuffle was dubbed "The Attack of Screams".  So there's that.

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

One of my fort's mercenaries (an elf no less) became a lord for his civilization (which is not the elven civilization I'm trading with).

On another note, more troglodytes have been mangled and soon enough, the fort will have the obsidian processor set up, but until then, use of green glass and stoneware for various things has been done as I also work towards a surface farm at last.  (So many dang z-levels!)

For planning's sake, I plan to incorporate three batches of traps:  2 sets of cage traps, and one set of weapons traps.  The cage traps will use any mechanism, but I intend for only the best goods with the weapons traps.  Probably will use copper discs and silver spiked balls for the trap components.  (If anyone has a better idea, do feel free to provide with the weapon trap suggestions.)

Circumstances mean that galena is currently my best option for perforating dwarven invaders that may arrive.

I've reached my third game year of a fort, which is a first for me. I had reclaimed a MASSIVE ruin, and so far everything is running smoothly. TOO smoothly. I have plenty of booze, a fully functional library( complete with 10 books), steel-production is working like a charm, there's enough beds for migrants and then some, and I can purchase all that I need from a caravan with a single, heavily designed mitten. A mayor was recently elected, and a forgotten beast showed up, but it only killed two dwarves before falling down the main shaft that dominates most ruins. It's all working just as planned, and it worries me....something evil must be on its way.

What the...my first woodcutter and shaman has been missing for a week? What the fuck?

EDIT: ...are you fucking kidding me? He got stuck in a tree.

EDIT 2: Nyahahah, struck cobaltite.

EDIT 3: Lost another miner. Was draining a murky pool, he continued further channeling only to...get two spaces dug, at which point the water flowed in and filled his workspace up.

New fort, testing all these new features. It's been like, 2 years since I played last.

   [PERSONALITY:LOVE_PROPENSITY:10:50:100]
   [PERSONALITY:LUST_PROPENSITY:40:85:100]
   [VALUE:ROMANCE:15]

Six of my initial seven were all hooked up before I even got a stockpile dug out. I like to imagine the 7th would be in on it too if polygamy or cheating were a thing, and if he hadn't got hit in the head by a log while he was woodcutting.

I was generating new worlds and hit a jackpot: a civ with literally only 75 dwarves left, having lost most of its sites in an ongoing war with the elves. It has one site: a hillocks which was captured by the less than 20 years ago, then 5 years ago was ransacked by a dragon, and is now serving as a site for the refugees to regroup. According to the Legends Viewer there are literally 2 dwarves living there.

I've started a fortress a few world-tiles away, in range of the enemy. I've set the pop cap low (but the visitor and strict pop cap high) to accurately model our last stand. We will not go quietly. We have the authorization of the Queen: if the Shaken Grate is about to fall, we have her blessing to release the forces of Hell onto the world, and take it with us...

It seems like the majority of the local noblity's SOs are chilling in my Tavern.  I've managed to get a whole batch in as Bardic residents, lord/lady consorts, a baronness consort and an duke consort.

None of them are from my Civ either, so with any luck their partners will show up, and then i'll get my own promotions too.  Noble Fort!

* celem wonders if the local kings/queens are at all musically inclined...room for a few more
