Waterfalls have names in real life.  Why don't they have names in DF?

Our current Fortress has had an interesting Start, and as We have copies of the End of Year Reports We thought We'd share them here.

Give me the name of your river or your fort, and I give the falls a name!

The fort is called Lolokoddom, "Granitecloister".

Edit:

I think one of my fisherdwarves just snapped and I'm not sure why.  They had been flashing a red arrow for a long time, but all I saw was that they couldn't worship their god.  I have a non-denominational temple.  Of course they could worship their god.

Any Ideas?

Our best Guess is that she spent too much Time at Work.  A known Problem with Fisherdwarfs and Hunters is that they often spend more Time on the Job, meaning Outside and away from the Comforts of the Fortress, than they spend off the Job socializing, praying, and performing the various other Non-Labour Tasks that Dwarfs need to maintain Happiness.

The only way to prevent this sorry State of Affairs that We know of is to periodically disable the Fishing or Hunting Labours on the Dwarfs.

Closing the front gate (and gate to the caverns if that's open) can often stop fisherdwarves and hunters from working. Nothing to do but relax and enjoy the social facilities then.

Oh yeah, that fisher is way dead.

She becomes completely helpless in  stressful situations.  She is unfriendly and disagreeable, and she is bothered by this since she  values friendship.  She prefers to be alone.  She actively avoids exciting or stressful  situations.  She doesn't generally think before acting.  She can easily fall in love or develop  positive sentiments.  She tends to form only tenuous emotional bonds with others.  She does not  often feel lustful.  She is pleased by her own appearance and talents.  She is quick to anger.   She prefers to present herself modestly.  She has a greedy streak.  She isn't particularly  ambitious.  She tends to share her own experiences and thoughts with others.  She doesn't mind a  little tumult and discord in day-to-day living.  She is not particularly interested in what  others think of her.  When she's trying to remember something, she often starts chewing on her  lips.  She needs alcohol to get through the working day.

Quick to anger is of mild note (I've seen it be problematic, but it's not a severe form of the trait, so), but the first trait is the worst stress susceptibility you can get in a dwarf. She was bound to die no matter what you did, pretty much.

Well, Granitecloister has come to an end.

Turns out that when a guild asks for a guildhall, you can't just dig out a 10x10 rooms, dump all the stone, install a door, and call it a day.

I finally took the dive and started a fort in the new version.
Interesting.  Looking at the holdings and tribute map, my dwarven civ sites are surrounded by human sites, from two civilizations, one of which my civilization has an alliance with, and the others are at peace.
I don't suppose having an alliance has any effect yet for fort mode?

EDIT: Heh, within the first season, 3 lover couples formed from my starting 7.

Well I'm currently generating world after world and running Embark Assistant on them.

This caught my eye while I was generating a world:

Still gotta run Embark Assistant on it...

Edit:

Well that world didn't pan out.

Here the next one:

The outpost liason was killed by goblins.
His casket reads: This is the resting place of Cadi Cilkolem, Prophet. (Cadi Skycooks)
And his corpses reads: Oddom Oslanarzes's partial skeleton

So after all, he's a vampire?
