About to update Rockgrizzles to the latest version. Not much has been happening, I'm finally starting to run out of clay after years of 'Dwarf cancels Gather Clay: Clay Vanished' spam... I'm still not sure what causes it, I have plenty of clay-gathering zones and all of them still seem to contain clay. :-\ This is a problem, as fire clay was pretty much the only resource I have plenty of in this gods-forsaken map... I'd been building the slum area exclusively out of it.

Other than that not much of note has occured, we finally have a couple of wells, I assigned a sheriff and gave him a decent office, a few people fall ill occasionally from the clouds of foul vapour in the sandy areas, (where I built part of the slums) and children keep getting born by the dozens.
Still no migrants have been attracted to this bleak landscape, and the goblins haven't bothered attacking us. All we've had are kobold thieves, and caravans of the dwarven, human and elven variety.

Oh, and apparently blood-sucking critters such as lice actually require the stuff to survive, as I discovered when my giant pet mosquito fell into the dining room and went splat.

As if everyone dying of thirst because the dwarves using the wine barrels can't drink fast me messing up with stairs wasn't enough, suddenly werewolf babies!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's being carried around by my armourer, I don't think it can actually do anything. Except scare people. Not the armourer though, surprisingly - she's hanging on to it. I guess even if your baby is a werewolf baby, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Or something.

Edito: My militia commander punched it out of its mother's hands, roughed it up a bit, got torn to shreds and then the armourer went and picked it up again.

I have no idea what to do now.

Edito 2: Okay, so it got knocked out of her hands and got killed by a woodworker. So that's good, I guess. Unfortunately, a bowyer went berserk and is destroying everything, everyone is miserable and there's a crazy dwarf fighting my chickens. At least we went out with a bang.

A siege came, some 120 goblins and trolls, including one swordmaster and elite goblin bowman. We decided that we'd take a more cautious route and promptly raised the bridges as the marksdwarves moved into the tower.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Some were more scared than others. Rith, along with another marksdwarf, took two for the fort by being pelted with arrows by the elite bowman.
After about a month, we got bored and installed some more cage traps and gathered two melee squads in the courtyard ready to assualt the goblin horde in waves just at the same time they decided to retreat. Blast. And no one of our dwarves died. Yet.

In other news, during the siege we had 7-8 live births and a bunch of cancellation spam. Furthermore, the arena is soon finished.

EDIT:
Merchants are being dicks. Even though the depot is crammed with their wagons, the depot screen isn't letting me trade. I don't even...

Fourth mood comes up, I check the dwarf's stats. Highest moodable skill is weaponsmith, awesome. He grabs the workshop, and grabs a bar of shining steel. I'm nearly salivating at this point. When he finishes, my fortress value increases by 2,404,800 dorfbucks, thanks to this beauty:

Remarkably enough, no. It isn't any of my dwarves, either. CBA to copy the save and search legends for an individual who is probably the slayer of the dire naked peasant wereweasel so-n-so.

Lost: RabbitHut the Grass-Devourer
07) The Sponge has Spoken

Current: RabbitHut the Holy House
01) Start
02) Dwarf Down, Population Up
03) Light at the End of the Tunnel
04) The Big Wave
05) Garbage Improvement
06) Were Woof

So I got my first were-creature, a were-wolf.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Can't see where he's at in the screen above, so I close the window.
Oh, there he is, right next to the other Armorer that didn't make it inside...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This won't end well for him.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Then human form and go home.

328 zombies roam the side of my volcano. They're having enough of an impact on FPS that it's time to deal with them. There's a small section of the map that doesn't seem to allow corpse reanimation that I've thought about using as a killing field, unfortunately it also rains goblin blood (or for part of the year, rains frozen goblin blood-snow stuff) that causes flesh to rot off.

After finding that magma doesn't work on undead, I've began thinking about utilising the league of forgotten beasts I've walled off - if I can bait the 300 undead to the none-animating area and unleash the forgotten beasts on them, it should be an interesting fight. Last time it took around 80 constantly reanimating undead to take down one of them, which promptly reanimated itself.

My fortress is creeping through the years at about 5-6 FPS because of the massive amounts of magma pumping and the hordes of invading elves (and defending dwarves) melting in said magma. I am watching my fortress crumble in fucking bullet time.
