I wish the new version was here now so I wouldn't have to destructively abandon a fort. I'm getting kind of bored with the current one but don't really want to abandon it.

Or maybe I can try to go out in a bang or something.

Or maybe smooth the whole fort and just let in the next siege or megabeast or whatever. Or release the current captured dragon....

Looks like a legendary spearmaster in my fortress main squad is so bored by his spear abilities that he has decided to change his fighting style to focus on ... biting
So much that he's now even making demonstrations

Haha, awesome.
"Rawr. GrrrrMPH! And that, youngsters, is how you tear out a goblin's lung with your teeth. Mind you, that would have worked better with an actual goblin, not this stuffed training dummy. *spit, spit*"

In an attempt to get Goblins to siege me, I created this taunting message.

I decided to massacre the elven caravan this time around. They never bring anything useful anyway, and my three-man-military could use the tragedy.

"Oh, no, Urist, come on, don't... AUUUGHHH you threw up in the brazier.  Classy bro.  Now the whole glorious entrance is going to smell like burnt vomit.  It's a wonder you didn't burn yer beard off you ninny."

On second thought, I feel like that's what most dwarf fortress would start to smell like after a while.

So I'm about to purchase 78,406 Urists of stuff from the Dwarven caravan.

Prepared Food is OP.

It seems my insulting message had backfired. The elves were insulted by my taunt and brought no exotic animals this year.

I had an encounter with one 1-z level and another 6-z level with layer of clay in-between.

There were some difficulties, but in the end I breached it and engineered a waterfall just next to the stairway which comes from the uppermost and is drained by the lowest aquifer level.

It can be turned on and off. The drain can be opened so the flowing water will be available below, and it is just three lever operated bridges away from doubling as drowning trap. I like it already.
