I had a siege operator that was attacked by a GCS while setting up defenses.

It dragged him off the raised entrance into the muddy pit. I thought he was dead for sure,  then he started punching it.

The pair of them fought for a good while. The GCS did not seem to get the web on him. This random dwarf happened to be part of my under equipped crossbow militia, so he had some leather armor on. By the end of it, he had managed to knock the spider down, punched open 2-4 of it's legs, and  knocked out an eye. The spider ended up leaving him alone, and he walked away without a single injury once the path was mined out.

One good aspect of insect/spider shaped creatures is they don't have a skull.
So you can see a dwarf one punch KO a spider forgotten beast out of pure luck.

I got a message about the dead walking, I'm under siege, but nothings there. I shut the doors for a couple weeks but visitors kept showing up and went unmolested. So I opened the gates. Visitors are coming and going freely, had the guard stationed at the gate for a week or so. No activity. Still under siege. Sent them out to scout around, found nothing.

A reacher did crawl up out of the caverns and attacked a guardsdwarf. She survived the attack and the reacher was killed. Smashed toenail though, so I expect death by infection eventually.

Also, one of my visitors is a wizard poet named Goth. Just Goth, nothing else. Totally hired that one.

Was looking if there was anything else to learn from that testfort before I 'die' it...

Spoiler: Hm...Wait, what? (click to show/hide)

   1 hamster man
   1 dark peach monster
   2523 trolls
   2523 beak dogs

   3 elf outcasts

Welp. Somebody got made ever-regenerating livestock in their own home?

(PS: Yeah, yeah, I know it is a random pick. But still, us humans see patterns in the rng :P)

@Eric Blank: Not necessarily. I've had dwarves live for decades, with a smashed toenail, without getting infected.

This is a superior quality large Lural Seamines the Night of Sullying's forgotten beast silk cloak. It is sized for humans. It is made from finely-crafted Lural Seamines the Night of Sullying's forgotten beast silk cloth.

This is a damned long name for a cloak.

Zefon Eminiseth, Stray Hydra (*Trained*) has given birth to triplets.

The fortress of Bridgethunders is now home to a fertile pair of Hydras :D. Had quite a few false starts in getting the baby hydras safely caged and then chained, but after many, many savescums I finally managed it without losing them to overzealous militia dwarves. I really need to take advantage of my well-established Giant Cave Spider breeding program and design some kind of automated baby-trapping system to avoid future mishaps.

In other news, the members of the first of two large performance troupes have begun to petition for citizenship. Within a year, I'll have over 20 assorted Humans, Goblins, and Elves available to work or fight for the greater glory of the Mountainhome. Efforts to drain and contain the magma sea slowly continue as well, despite the occasional loss of workers to Magma Crabs and Fire Imps.

Meh, it'll work out. The first thing that sprung to mind for me wasn't about how a group of 4 hydras look, but reanimating leather industry. With 7 heads, there's so much more to slice off from a hydra.

Dwarf Noble: "Aye lad, and we got 'em to mate too"

Don't worry, it could be worse.

Count yourself lucky you aren't imagining it in anime style.
