This giant cave toad is sitting in the middle of my fort, docile and nice. It was apparently attacked by a couple of Crundles. I'm considering taming it, if that's possible.

I can only imagine that the damn things crust over from sheer alcohol (over)consumption, so they become brittle and crack

No, you're getting it wrong. Dwarves have livers of steel.

This is a steel dwarf liver. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encrusted with rice beer, and menace's with spikes of steel and cat tallow soap.

They have large livers but not invincible livers & a very greedy attitude sends many to the grave early.

It's not greed that's the problem, it's generosity. Specifically, the generosity of tavern keepers. In my better-run forts, I tend to lose more dwarves to overzealous tavern keepers than to any other single cause.

Meanwhile, my fort was simultaneously attacked from above and below by flame-wielding enemies, in the form of an enormous firebreathing vulture (forgotten beast) from the first cavern and a siege of Hellfire Imps (Fort Defense) from above. After no fewer than five crashes and reloads from the seasonal autosave due to excessive amounts of smoke and collapsing trees, I'm about ready to DFHack a layer of 7/7 water across my entire embark just to stop the crashes.

Ah, I knew there was a good but vague reason that I always hesitate and decide against adding the Imps to my FD embarks... thanks for the reminder.   :)

"Well, welcome to Openedbodies everyone..." I can only imagine the looks on everyone's faces as they heard the name of this fort. Hope this name has nothing the do with the fortresses downfall.

The last dorf getting disemboweled and slowly bleeding to death? Nah, that would never happen. :P

Weaponssmith mooded. Woo. Would actually have prefered carpenter/armorer or most things other than bonecarver, as I already have a weaponsmith working at excellent/masterwork level, but still nice to have whatever they make.

What could possibly go wrong in y Fort witha Deity like this... xD

"This is a well-crafted dolomite statue of Sarvesh Brandparched the Flickering Furnache of Fire. The item is a well-desinged image of Sarvesh Brandparched the Flickering Furnace of Fire, the deity of volcanos and fire, depicted as a male dwarf in dolomite by 'Stoner' keskalkonos. Sarvesh Brandparched the Flickering Furnace if Fire is screaming."

Better than having one of the best books in your library be this.

"This is a bismuthinite-bound codex.
The written portion consists of a 126 page manual entitled Can Toxic Substances Save The World? , authored by Nepe Humidwalls. It concerns the classification of toxic substances. The writing could only have been produced by a merciful spirit . Overall, the prose is splendid."
