AllThingsDnD's voice is like nails on a chalk-board to me, not sure why exactly but it made this more difficult to listen to. Note: Paladin is a female in the story, but the title uses "his" for some reason - also clickbait is a generous term, the Paladin doesn't reconsider her morals.

You're not missing much in the comments - mostly talking about how Paladins suck and people quoting their own edge-lord assassins.

I guess the "one line" is the bit about gold for goblin ears.
The assassin's argument seems to be the following:
An assassin will kill for the right price.
An assassin won't kill people who are trusted or part of their group, so they won't "just kill anyone". (This point is muddled)
The paladin killed goblins in exchange for gold.
Therefore the paladin is the same as an assassin.

The assassin has a secret letter, which would seem to say that the goblins were more than just monsters. But somehow that line is supposed to convince us that the paladin (who acted unknowingly) is worse than the assassin (who either killed the goblins fully aware of their plans for peace, or hid that information after getting it afterward.)

Really, going by the information only presented in this video, the assassin's moral high ground is "I kill people and I feel bad about it, so it's okay. My motivation is money." While the paladin is saying "Everyone I kill deserved to be killed. My motivation is justice." While, in actuality, both of their motivations are money, so the assassin is in better moral standing for feeling guilt.

If we can live with morality being subjective, the paladin believed she was doing the right thing, while the assassin believed they were doing the wrong thing for money. The paladin, then is the "better person" of the two.

If morality is objective, the paladin and the assassin both did evil deeds by killing undeserving goblins. Neither gets a win here.

Personally, I'd say that the paladin is morally justified in killing the goblins if she was under the impression that they had been harming the village for years. She is less justified in being antagonistic to the assassin, as the assassin has shown (apparently) nothing but commitment to the party. The paladin's true moral dilemma would be when the assassin shows her the letter - where she then needs to decide if she was still justified or needs to seek out redemption for that misdeed.

The assassin, on the other hand, is withholding that information from the paladin. Presenting the idea as hypothetical instead of just stating it outright or revealing the proof robs the paladin of the opportunity to reassess their actions, and in doing so, leaves the door open for the paladin to continue to perform injustices on an objective level.

But lets be real - these are DnD players. Their motivations for murder are loot, gold, and XP. Neither of them have any moral integrity. Also, goblins are intelligent but people kill them like rats and that's fucked up no matter what.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to realize this, but...

You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so. However, you can't use any of your special senses, such as darkvision, unless your new form also has that sense.

That should mean that gnomish druids would retain their advantage on mental saving throws vs. magic, right? And since you keep your mental attribute scores, but replace your physical ones with those of the beast... Seems pretty snazzy!

Can't say I'm familiar, no... I'm not generally much of a podcast person in general, however. What kinds of decent ideas?

To be a gnomish druid though you'd have to be a gnome, which is unacceptable.

I once added a magic belt of +6 to all stats in my home game, with an inscription on the inside that read "Property of the great gnome Anne, hands off!"

Of course, it was a cursed belt of opposite gender.

I told them she was a master Transmuter Wizard, renowned for her advances in spellcraft and discoveries. However, what was to be her greatest work ever ended in disaster, as during a complex transmutation ritual she inadvertently transformed herself into a massive stone monolith that crashed into the ocean, becoming a new feature among local sailors.

Alas, gnome Anne is an island.

hhhhhhh okay you win, that's good.

I don't think my group included a gnomes since we left 3.5, but that advantage on magic saving throws looks pretty handy.  It's still a little weird how they aren't at all weaker than other races, but 5e race templates all focus on bonuses rather than maluses so it evens out.

Well, halflings and gnomes can't use Heavy weapons as well due to being Small, and maximum carrying capacity has size as a factor. Those aren't huge deals though.

They can use heavy weapons they just have disadvantage when they do. Which can lead to some fun builds with barbarian gnomes/halflings recklessly attacking for a straight roll with a greataxe.
