Bins stacked full of mangoes were laid out in rows. On further inspection of the market, Cog came to the realization that everything was mangoes.

If I remember, only one. He was just a weaver going to collect some cave spider webs. I guess that's what happens when you let a dwarf wonder a cavern full of dead stuff.

In the next version, that weaver will go to the tavern to relieve his stess and end up biting off a dancer's right lower leg with his upper right back tooth.

Killing a creature or seeing it die doesn't give that thought. Simply seeing the corpse is enough to give a dwarf that thought. Even if it is just the partial skeleton of an elephant who died years before that dwarf was even concieved.

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

Everyone in my fortress is traumatized by the kobold corpses in the dump from year 1.  Whenever I mass dump things I terrify the entire workforce that has to go see the bodies.

Dwarves saw some tiny white bits in the refused stockpile and they wondered what it might be.
Urist McCoroner did a DNA test.

"Hey guys, it is a bit of an elf's toe nail..."

Kogan McPlanter was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Cog McBrewer was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Ber McCarpenter was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Ral McStonecfater was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Tun McGelder was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Lor McStoneworker was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Shem McHerbalist was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Sazir McLegendaryCheeseMaker was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Goden the Dwarven Child was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Sigun McHammerLord was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Fath McLeatherworker was horrified after seeing an elf die.
Urist McDonald was horrified after seeing an elf die.

I remember the first time I tried to move my occupied rock coffins from one place to another (I had around 40 something in total, I really dislike cave-ins). Since removing these buildings don't keep the bodies inside them, Dwarven skeletons spilled from the sky, littering my newly-made passageway with rotting meat and making idlers from my carpenters.

Just a quick update, I just decided to check up on my newly elected mayor. (Previous one lost his head over a Cave Crawler)
