The story of Treasurepaged
« on: August 13, 2007, 06:29:00 pm »

Greetings all,
I found this game a few months ago, and this forum shortly thereafter.  I've been lurking since then, and one of the things I've really enjoyed is reading the narratives people do about the fortresses they create.
So (in the spirit of the whole "giving back to the community" thing) I present to you the Saga of Treasurepaged.  I think of myself as a bit of a writer, so when I sat down to write the thing, it got a little long.  Too long to just post the text in a thread.  So I've broken it up into sections and hosted the .doc files on a free server. (sorry about the .doc format, it's bloated and uncouth, but .txt often doesn't display accent marks properly.  I can supply .odt files if anyone prefers, I know I do.)
So, without further ado: the Saga of Treasurepaged.

Introduction

Chapter 2
Chapter 2 .rtf format

Chapter 3
Chapter 3 .rtf format

I have more if there's interest.

Post it as RTF format.  I never ever ever download .DOC files off the net from someone I don't know well like that due to the virus risks.

Ha!  Hadn't thought of that.

You can tell it's a good document format (and operating system) when simply opening a text file can run administrator level macros that connect to an ip address, download a trojan, then run it.

Your concerns are completely justified, I've added links to the .rtf files.

Good *fluff, Yucca.  I am currently trying my own hand at crafting a story of my second fortress.  I've even got a small log of an adventurer exploring the abandoned remnants.  Might just mix 'em if nothing else works.

*fluff - things added to flesh out an unexplained or minor part of a game.

So far I've read the introduction, and I must say that I like your style. I'll read the rest soon.   :)

EDIT: This is very well done. I can't wait for the next installment!  :)

I converted the .rtf files into PDF with OpenOffice.org for my own use. If you'd like me to do any more of that, I'd be glad to.

The zip that contains the four pdfs can be found at http://www.filecrunch.com/file/~s5y6eu

Why don't you just cut and paste this with actual pics over on the DFMA?
