Introduction

Tension's been rising in Vathatan since the death of its King. Its inhabitants are getting high-strung, some even speak in hushed murmurs, a clash between the Princess and the military's general seems iminent.
Quieter still, in those places out of traveler's ways where those that know the ways of the world and are wise to it and that things are never quite what they seem whisper that somethin' darker's in the air, straight out o' the Fellwild, blowin' down from the north and all throughout the land an' spreadin' its stink an' corruption to all the poor folk who ain't knowin' better an' the lordly folk who know but ain't bein' able to do nothing about it...
An' you'd better hope they're wrong, they say, and they congregate in their covens and converse and pray in the dark corners of the hidden places they've read the signs wrong even though
they all know in their heart of hearts it's true, and really they've never been wrong before so why would they start being wrong now?

Two months ago, Vathatan's sovereign was found dead in his bedroom, without a wound and peacefully asleep. It was ruled as natural causes but some claim he was assassinated by a sort of magic that had never been seen before.
Since then, talk has been drifting down from the noble houses that the military's Lord General has been arguing with the princess over matters of governance, and may even be planning to stage a coup. The common folk are concerned about the state this might put their country in, but have no real personal concern for a princess that has never been seen in public.
Identity of the PlayersThe players are mercenaries hired by a Vathatanian noblewoman to assist in escorting her to No Man's Land. Those joining during the prologue can be from anywhere but Enthia.

Applications: Now open 'till Wednesday the 29th of July (11:59 PM GMT+10) and decisions will be made on the following Thursday. I'll be aiming to accept 10 players, with the chance for bumping it up to twelve if the game moves at a reasonable speed or I think I can handle it.
This is not first come first serve. I reserve the right to reject applications based on actions in other/previous games on this board.
Sprites: Please make your own or
request help from others. If you steal (or use without permission) someone else's work, you will be persecuted most harshly (probably kicked from the game.) This is mostly just a formality, but seriously, don't. Stealing original sprites from the games, though, is perfectly fine. Go nuts! (I know I did.)

Linked above by SC and Gigla are good resources for making your own. You don't need to draw them from scratch, a good number of people make them from a combination of recoloring, splicing, and light redrawing. (Like removing Eliwood's circlet.)
