Wait for them to leave the room and then go in it ourselves.

The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

They decide that they didn't get paid enough for this..

Same as above, but have the ranger light a torch.

Have the warrior walk in first.

Looks like giant ant workers blocked the passage with statues. At first Harold can see more ants behind the piled statues, but soon workers bring more debris to pile on. The passage is totally blocked out.

In the room to the north Samantha sees three human corpses (in various stages of decay). The north east side is covered in something foul. In the western corner sits a barrel.

In the center room there is a charred goblin corpse, some walls have burn marks and decayed blood on them.

The lower room is empty apart from some wooden tables (some of them are broken).

We need a ranged weapon. . .
In general our action for this turn should be to search stuff, and have one person slowly start removing the baracade. I recomend
H start removing the statues and stuff
F check the barrel
S check all the bodies

Samantha:
  • On one of the corpses found a staff with red embers embedded in it. If you listen closely it emits sizzling sound.
  • A dagger and a note (seems to have been sealed with wax seal)
  • A barrel of dwarven crafts (mostly stone mugs but there is also a dwarven puzzlebox)
Note reads:

Harold does not seem to be making progress.

Francis found only broken furniture and some rotten small animal remains.

Digging up the tunnel (especially as ants might be rebuilding it on the other side) could take a while. During that time stuff might happen in the world so our adventurers need to choose what to do:
  • Stay/camp here- giant ants might flank them, or some ant scouting party might come back
  • Return to the guild with information and experience
  • Split party (some could be defending this and keeping the claim on this part of the dungeon)
  • Other?

Leave, and solve the puzzle box.

Take the dagger, staff, and note. . . .  And puzzlebox. And a few mugs to sell.

How strong is a giant ant? Considering how normal ants can carry many times their weight?

. . . . Depends on the species. Some can kill humans.

Workers are as strong as average weight lifter (i.e. stronger than average human). But most danger is from numbers and more battle/defense oriented ants.
