Adventuring as a hist fig
« on: August 09, 2015, 03:42:36 am »

Is there any way to start an adventure without creating a new adventurer but simply taking control of some historical figure?

No, you'd have to use DFHack to take control of an existing historical figure.

First press k to look at whoever you want to possess.
Then type dfusion, then 2 for "adventurer tools", and finally 2 for "change adventurer".

I am quite looking forward to the next 20 or 30 years or so of developmental madness

I don't think I ever truly realized exactly how much of a nerd I am before I saw this topic title and immediately concluded that there was some kind of Elder Scrolls mod for DF and that clearly "hist-fig" was a poetic kenning for "Argonian."

It is a world built on pillars that descend into hell itself, yet there is no heaven above to look to. A world where pain and death await all, with little to no salvation from the horrors of the world. There is no true peace, no true saviour. Dwarf fortress is a game about an eternal struggle that you can never, ever win.

Also, valkyries are cooler then angels...

That was totally what came to mind the first time I saw the term in DF.
