Webpage: http://empiremud.net/

Background

EmpireMUD was originally written by Paul Clarke and is derived from CircleMUD 3.0 bpl 17, by Jeremy Elson. Paul began EmpireMUD in October 2000 as a hobby project while attending the University of Arizona in Tucson. This is the first time in over a decade that Paul has run an EmpireMUD himself, although he has encouraged others to use this code base and there have been many other EmpireMUDs over the years.

Features

- Large, persistent, player-modifiable ASCII world map.
- 100% original world and zones.
- Lead your own empire (clan) to riches or ruin.
- Full support for screen readers, even on the map.
- Learn any skills and build your own class.
- Play as a vampire, mage, warrior, or combine them.
- Levels are based on your skills and equipment, not the other way around.
- Instanced adventure zones for quests big and small.
- 220+ abilities to choose from.
- Build cities and craft weapons and armor for your own empire, or sell them to others.
- Forge alliances with other players, or go to war.

Well..those sound pretty boring actually. I think the most interesting part is the Empire part.

Empires
- Found your own Empire! Establish diplomatic relationships with other Empires, declare war and even make trade agreements! Below is how my Empire looks like...

Kingdom of Eleuria, led by Indirik

The Kingdom of Eleuria respects all other empires and intends to maintain a
favorable relationship with all other empires. We will also gladly accept all
non-aggression pacts, alliance offers and trade agreements, unless you are
known to the Kingdom as an aggressive or dishonorable empire. Also, Bluebirds
are a protected species of Eleuria and any person - whether Eleurian or not -
caught endangering these birds in Eleurian territory will be punished severely.
People are allowed to hunt these birds outside Eleurian territory, however they
are not encouraged to do so.
Adjective form: Eleurian
Ranks and privileges:
  1. Vassal - harvest, chop, workforce
  2. Junior Knight - build, cities
  3. Senior Knight - stealth
  4. Lower Noble - enroll, trade, logs
  5. Noble
  6. Higher Noble - claim, cede
  7. Grand Advisor - diplomacy
  8. Monarch - promote, withdraw, customize
Frontier traits: none
Population: 1 player, 11 citizens, 0 military
Territory: 37 in cities, 21/21 outside (58/105 total)
Wealth: 0 coins (at 10%), 0 treasure (0 total)
Fame: 0
Greatness: 3
Technology: none
Score: 10, ranked #28 (Wealth 0, Territory 1, Members 3, Techs 0, Inventory 0, Greatness 3,
Diplomacy 3, Fame 0, Military 0, Playtime 0)
Diplomatic relations:
In a non-aggression pact with Eliria (trade), Andorith (trade), United Federation of Acruan (trade),
Barilia (trade), Haven (trade).
Offering a non-aggression pact to Stormwood Adventure Company.

Amazing? Still not convinced?

- Build structures using materials gained from the surroundings! You can Dig to get rocks and clay, you can Gather to get sticks, you can Chop to get wood and Scrape them to get logs, you can plant crops and harvest them to get fruits like cherries and peaches etc etc. You can do a lot of stuff! In fact the game is kinda like Dwarf Fortress, haha! Below is a list of several buildings you can build.

.(). hut  20 sticks
.(). mudhut  10 sticks, 10 rocks
(--) cabin  6 logs
(==) house  10 logs
.[]. pueblo  6 logs, 20 rocks
[==] cliffdwelling  10 logs, 20 rocks
(~~) well  5 sticks, 1 log, 10 rocks
/[]\ mine  4 logs
(FF) forge  10 logs, 15 rocks, 10 iron ingots
(MM) mill  10 logs, 2 stone blocks
(PP) potter  10 logs, 1 stone block
(SS) stable  20 logs, 8 pouches of nails
vvvv fence  20 sticks
vxvv gate  20 sticks, 1 copper ingot
{CC} cannery  20 sticks -- store fruits
{FF} foundry  20 sticks -- store metals
{GG} granary  20 sticks -- store grains
{PP} gravelpit  20 sticks -- store rocks
{LL} lumberyard  20 sticks -- store lumber
{SS} smokehouse  20 sticks -- store meats
{TT} tannery  20 sticks -- store skins
{UU} utilityshed  20 sticks -- store tools
|__| quarry  4 logs, 20 sticks -- must be on flat land facing a mountain
|__| claypit  4 logs, 20 sticks -- must be on flat land facing water

- Build houses to attract citizens! Citizens are NPCs, by the way. But they will increase your Empire Score and place it higher in the Empire rankings. Once you have gotten the Workforce technology, you can order your citizens to harvest, mine, gather and perform many other tasks. Awesome, eh?

And there's so much more! Start playing now! (You need a MUD client on your computer to run EmpireMUD)

... assuming you're not a bot, or a drive-by spammer, you'll be happy to know we already have an EmpireMUD thread. If you're looking to see if folks are interested in something related to the game, you'll probably want to post there, instead.

Hmm, that link seems to be more of an advertisement for Dwarven Empire, and chat between the members of that Empire....I think we should have a more neutral topic. Or else Dwarven Empire will get a LOT of new members (I'm not sure if their leadership is still active)

Anddd I'm not a bot. Lawl.

Not really. It wasn't intended to be one, but why should I put the profiles of other empires when I can put my own? That doesn't really make sense.

Why should you put the profile of a kingdom at all?

Yeah they'll get SUCH a flood of new members :p   Anybody who was slightly interested would likely have tried it then, I really doubt there will be a huge new wave of players.

I liked it, let me see what kind of goals and stuff people work towards.

I do agree with the general consensus that discussion should go in the already existing thread. However, I think people are being a bit extreme to somebody who is obviously a real person who hasn't really done anything not out of good faith

I was just showing the stuff you can do with empires, which includes editing the description, editing ranks and permissions, signing NAPs and trade agreements with other empires, claim land etc. And it's not like the description will draw any new members anyway  :P It's so crappy right now, and I'm not exactly sure if I'll continue playing the game as its kinda slow-paced and there's barely any warfare going on now.
