You are Cordyceps [SG]
« on: August 17, 2015, 09:52:31 pm »

You are Cordyceps. Currently residing and controlling an infected scientist, your goal is to escape and infect the rest of the world.

You're not quite sure what you can do, but from what you can glean from the person you're residing in, you're not even supposed to be infecting the guy.

You have assumed the personality of said scientist and your desire is [PROCREATION]. The place is dim.

What do you do?

We must be able to think if we've commandeered someone's personality.  Surely we have more goals in life?

You have a near-uncontrollable desire to grow a very long stalk of fungus from your scientist's head. You, having somehow flawlessly and invisibly taken control of the scientist, have some sense of survival instinct; one that urges you not to hasten the process of growing so that you can maximize the amount of spores spread onto a single area.

In normal cases, you would not be directly controlling the scientist, but perhaps the guy ingested a whole lot of your fungal stalks, considering that you really feel like you're the person now and have adapted their knowledge.

Obviously, this has increased your ability and penchance for survival by a MASSIVE degree.

Your intelligence is rapidly degrading, however. Your biology is replacing his functional brain tissue with your own fungal cells that don't quite function like a person's brain but still is able to adapt. Time will tell if you can find another host, die in a fire (you don't want to die!), or you evolve to have better control of your victims.

Your mutation value is currently 0.

You contemplate your goals...

PROCREATION PROCREATION PROCREATION realization PROCREATION

Nope. You don't know a lot of things yet, but you do have access to your poor victim's memories.

Think about if our host can take a long train ride (ideally on a sleeping car) to a moist, warm area.

Try and remember a place where lots of people gather to possibly spread.

Try and remember some places with isolated individuals who could be infected without revealing yourself.

See if there are any useful weapons nearby.

Best infect some insects right quick. They get absolutely everywhere, and hey, it's what we originally evolved to do. Maybe some cockroaches or something.

You move your arms around. They move around almost flawlessly, but you can sense jitters in your controls. You're going to have to hide most of your body in a coat to avoid being too suspicious.

...Wait. You remember what a coat is. You're wearing one.

+0 infection Scientist's Lab Coat

The urge is much too important to simply seal away. You attempt to look for insects in the dark room to infect. To your dismay, you find none. You attempt to recall where you are...

You are in a hidden facility somewhere in the desert. It is damp and cool here, enough to promote your (stagnant) growth. However, you must PROCREATE and so you can't stay here forever.

You remember there's a hidden subway leading to Sydney, Australia in the underground complex. It may be of interest to you to go there, but you must find a way to maximize your efficiency, or else waiting inside a cool, dark cabin for employees will prematurely ensure that you grow a visible stalk to spread your spores.

And that would be bad, given your current location and status.

For weapons, you recall your lab-coat contains a small aerosolizer containing enough flammable gas with a gas-ignition system. You can burn some people with this if you focus it enough, but this weapon is too risky.

Flame Aerosolizer

Your Mutation Value is 0.
You own the following:

Take a chance and get on the subway while experimenting with infiltrating the lungs?

Are we asexual? We could literally make spores by ourselves.

Sneeze everywhere.

Try to move around to allow us to get somewhere else to infect people.

Find a place with one or two humans and many smaller animals, like a animal testing lab or storage facility, maybe monkeys or larger mammals?

Then we can infect one or two more intelligent humans and also infect a bunch of animals.

Also there will probably be room to hide the corpse of our current host once he matures.

+1, this host can't be the only human responsible for this facility
