Yes, Stonesense will do that on really large maps, so you have to zoom out a couple times first to make the overall map smaller.  It's a RAM problem with the program when the file its drawing has too many pixels for it to remember.

The path next to the tracks is 3-wide, and I thought that eventually, if no other 3-wide place existed on the map, that the wagons would gen on the only place there was: the road from the Mountainhomes.  So far, though, the trees have not all grown into the intervening spaces enough, so I had to build the 3-wide Periphery Road instead.  I suppose I could have built a 1-wide periphery road at the very edge, then excavated a 2-wide moat just inside that to force the RNG to choose the road as well, but I didn't think of that solution until just now.  Hmmm...

...yes, just played through a test year and those channels plus the in-roads and changing the location of the Depot has finally worked.  With the caravans finally able to be loaded with all of The First Mine's surplus, they may have enough to purchase two new embarks.  The Queen seems quite pleased that the citizens of The First Mine have finally gotten their problems with the caravan sorted out, because she'll be offering a title of nobility to the most worthy member of The First Mine, and sending someone out to pick up the two new artifacts (Currently stored in the attic of the Mayor's Mansion for safety).  I think our best bet going forward will be to lumber and pave a 1-tile wide ring around the edge of each embark, then channel the next tile in from there except where we want the of the caravan to appear.  That should keep the years-long delays from happening all over again.

ooc: Cool, we have a new vote for Baron.

If I get to it tonight, I will download the latest save and use the dfhack forum-dwaves.
Basically, select each dwarf one at a time and go to their description, then go to the dfhack console and type forum-dwaves.
What it does it copy current description screen and dump them in a text file named forumdwarves.txt on where df.exe is.

For each dwarf, it appends their entry in the text file.
The text file has color tags that works in forum posts.
Very handy instead of capturing images of dwarf descriptions and thoughts; or writing it down manually.

I updated the Gentry with the new influence numbers.  Looks like Captain Wordturmoil has the single most influence on the vote by a couple levels.  However, once these Clans start producing more artifacts and kids (and those kids start occupying positions of power in other sites), the relative influence of the various Clans will really start ramping up.  That kind of thing makes a goblin or megabeast attack even more of a risk, since it's usually the ones in positions of power who are chosen to fight them off-site, which could either increase a Clan's influence if they're victorious, or decrease it if they are slain...

Also, used the forum-dwaves DFHack utility (thanks for the suggestion Sanctume) and linked each of the entries in the Gentry with a copy of their personality, beliefs and goals.

He is an ardent worshipper of Ral and a dubious worshipper of Datan.
He is a citizen of The Work of Watching. He is a member of The Gate of Autumn.  He is the captain of the guard of The Gate of Autumn.  He is the baron of the Work of Watching. He is the former militia captain of The Gate of Autumn.  He arrived at Utharavuz on the 28th of Sandstone in the year 2.
He has the appearance of somebody that is sixty-seven years old and is one of the first of his kind.
He is corpulent.  His eyes are jade.  His sideburns are clean-shaven.  His very long moustache is arranged in double braids.  His very long beard is braided.  His very long hair is tied in a pony tail.  His ears are very flattened.  He has a very clear voice.  His nose is upturned.  His lips are thick.  He has a narrow chin.  His hair is light brown.  His skin is pale taupe.
He is slow to tire and agile, but he is flimsy, very slow to heal and quite susceptible to disease.
`Mr Wordturmoil' Moruldakas likes stibnite, nickel silver, bone opal, snail leather, drums and geese for their formation flying.  When possible, he prefers to consume halibut, bat ray, muck roots, pearl millet beer, llama's milk and whip vine flour.  He absolutely detests slugs.
He has a great kinesthetic sense, a deep well of patience, a great feel for social relationships, a great feel for the surrounding space, a good intellect and a way with words, but he has meager creativity and an iffy memory.
Like others in his culture, he holds craftsdwarfship to be of the highest ideals and celebrates talented artisans and their masterworks, has a great deal of respect for the law, greatly prizes loyalty, values family greatly, sees friendship as one of the finer things in life, greatly respects artists and their works, really respects those that take the time to master a skill, deeply respects those that work hard at their labors, respects fair-dealing and fair-play, values cooperation, finds merrymaking and partying worthwhile activities, values martial prowess, values leisure time, respects commerce and finds nature somewhat disturbing.  He personally values romance and does not particularly value the truth.  He dreams of raising a family.
He is unfriendly and disagreeable, and he is bothered by this since he values friendship.  He is sometimes cruel.  He is given to flights of fancy to the point of distraction.  He tends to avoid any physical confrontations, and he works to square this natural tendency with his respect of martial prowess.  He has a calm demeanor.  He doesn't mind wearing something special now and again.  He tends to assume the worst of two outcomes will be the one that comes to pass.  He takes offered help and gifts without feeling particularly grateful. He rarely feels discouraged.  He tends to be a little tight with resources when working on projects.  He is brave in the face of imminent danger.  He is pleased by his own appearance and talents.  He often feels lustful.  He generally acts with a narrow focus on the current activity.  He begins to talk in a monotone when he is bored.  He runs his fingers through his hair when he's trying to remember something.  He needs alcohol to get through the working day.  He does not mind being outdoors, at least for a time.

He is a citizen of The Work of Watching.  He is a member of The Gate of Autumn.  He is the militia commander of The Gate of Autumn.  He is the former broker of The Gate of Autumn.  He arrived at Utharavuz on the 28th of Sandstone in the year 2.
He has the appearance of somebody that is seventy-three years old and is one of the first of his kind.
He is very muscular with a broad body.  His hair is quite dense.  His very long sideburns are neatly combed.  His very long moustache is neatly combed.  His very long beard is neatly combed.  His very short hair is neatly combed.  He has a clear voice.  His nose is upturned.  His somewhat narrow head is very short.  His lips are thick.  His jade eyes are slightly wide-set.  His eyebrows are somewhat high.  His hair is light brown.  His skin is pale taupe.
He is indefatigable, very strong, quite durable and agile.
`Mr Chaos' Okirdoren likes periclase, black bronze, star ruby, pig tail fiber fabric, the color plum, war hammers, backpacks, anvils and horses for their strength.  When possible, he prefers to consume angelshark, kangaroo cheese, papaya wine, fonio flour and tomato seeds.  He absolutely detests brown recluse spiders.
He has an astounding feel for the position of his own body, a stunning feel for spatial relationships, great creativity, a great ability to focus, a lot of willpower, a sharp intellect, a feel for music and an ability to read emotions fairly well, but he has a meager ability with social relationships, little patience and lousy intuition.
Like others in his culture, he holds craftsdwarfship to be of the highest ideals and celebrates talented artisans and their masterworks, has a great deal of respect for the law, values family greatly, sees friendship as one of the finer things in life, believes that honesty is a high ideal, greatly respects artists and their works, really respects those that take the time to master a skill, deeply respects those that work hard at their labors, values cooperation, values martial prowess, values leisure time, respects commerce and finds nature somewhat disturbing.  He personally views loyalty unfavorably, values tranquility and a peaceful day, sees life as unfair and doesn't mind it that way and doesn't really value merrymaking.  He dreams of mastering a skill.
He very rarely develops negative feelings toward things.  He is dour as a rule.  He can easily fall in love or develop positive sentiments.  He has a noticeable lack of perseverance.  He has a tendency to consider ideas and abstractions over practical applications.  He is very humble.  He is a friendly individual.  He tends to be passive in discussions.  He is slow to anger.  He generally finds himself quite hopeful about the future.  He is not particularly interested in what others think of him.  He can handle stress.  He finds obligations confining, and he is conflicted by this since he believes in the importance of the rule of the law.  He does not go out of his way to help others.  He occasionally overindulges.  He is somewhat fearful in the face of imminent danger.  He sometimes acts with little determination and confidence.  He isn't particularly ambitious.  He needs alcohol to get through the working day.  He does not mind being outdoors, at least for a time.

The kitchen that baked so many travel biscuits was the very same that kept the wagons from arriving... Irony?

If that's the only source of iron we have, we'll take it!
