Blaze of glory is fine. (He says, having been already killed by Lava once.)

Alright, I accept the suicide mission. I'll try to blaze a trail of glory as best as I can. Where do I get the save (never done a succession fort before)?

Apologies for the wait. The way that I was wanting to bring this story to an "end" didn't pan out the way I intended. It was such a shame, as it took a long time to pull it off, and it didn't work. As you're probably aware, there's many easy ways that you could end the fort. But that would be cheap, and I want such a great story to have a matching, suitable ending.

I've had another idea that came to mind, so as soon as I have time this weekend, I will try to accomplish it. My friend that's a writer may or may not help me flesh out the story, too.

Just to drop in to say that I reuploaded all the missing images from my turns (down due to photobucket debacle) and updated the overseer log's and gallery images that I should have updated a long time ago as well. Everything should be up to date now. You fellas might want to check it out, there are some nice gif captures of the fortress in armok vision in there.

Also Vouhijumala and UristMckiwi, if you are looking at this, the images from your turns are down too. I would really appreciate it if you could re-upload them, but I'm not keeping my hopes up, so its up to you. So don't worry about it unless you want to :)

In the interest of making tiny, insignificant comments that are only relevant to the original post, I will note that I, for one, prefer the default ASCII
to any graphical tileset.

Kind of a necro, I know...

Waiting for DFhack to be updated (yes, I'm one of those lazy overseers who started with  LNP and can't go back to the origin - and also love using mouse), I decided to go back to this mess of a fortress. It fell into the void after Gwolfski's unfinished turn, and I think it deserves a more appropriate (and messy) end.

So I'll at least finish current year.
I'll post summer and autumn update for the week-end, and ty to finish the year before next wednesday.

For the end of the fortress we will try to stop Urist McDuck.
I propose to try something ugly: what happens when you flood the circus with water, then magma, and rinse and repeat till you got bored, clowns kill you or magma overflows ?

Worth a try I guess; what could possibly go wrong ?

What happens is that you get small obsidian tower foothold without having to risk your builders as much (mind the pockets of lava!)

If you manage to gum it so there's no open space, clowns may spawn inside the walls.

It's possible to alternatively flood it without revealing by flooding through built downstairs. Iirc this results in the two annoncements not happening at the same time, getting the eerie cavern one only once you actually see the bottomless pits. I think. It's been a while.
