Getting rid of fruits?
« on: September 24, 2015, 06:35:51 pm »

So I finally udpated to the newest version, all is going well, my fort is doing fine and my mega project is on track on the surface.

Then autumn happens. And the ENTIRE map is covered in red and purple.

At first I freak out, thinking I accidentally embarked on a weird biome where blood and whatnot is raining down.
On close inspection, it's apples, hazel nuts, and such.

Lovely, I say, but I dont care for them, and let them there to rot away.

Apparently they dont. Given that two years down the line they still color my town in red and purple.

I have cut down all trees inside my walls, and still the fruit wont decay, and what's worse, it's somehow getting on top of the megaproject despite it towering over all trees nearby.

How can I get it out? Magma...?

I placed a 'gather fruit' zone in a bit of my zone of control, but it still has apples lying around.

I just want them gone, I dislike the color mess it creates. D:
(This is even worse than blood and mud, at least those I can get rid of with 'clean map' if need be...)

Please help.

Well, DFHack offers a way to clean it up. The command would be "clean map item". But it cleans up everything, from what I saw.

My preferred method was to just chop down all trees near my fortress entrance (or rather on the same level of the entrance) and then pave over it with stoneware bricks. Only took a bit under 8000 bricks.

Dwarves will eventually pave the ground with green vomit.

Define 'all'...

The thing is, I DO want that greenspace, if not, I would have paved it all already.

And no, green vomit is not happening, I am making a surface city. (Yes, yes, heresy, Armok will feast in my sacrilegious blood when it runs off my corpse)

It seems to clean all map tiles of all contaminants; including fluids like blood, vomit, etc., projectile remains, plant remains like leaves.
It does NOT touch mud. No idea about snow.

The command "clean all mud snow item" cleans the map of everything, including mud and snow, and removes contaminants from items too.

Okay, 'clean map item' did the trick, no more stupid fruit around.

Now to see if it cleaned something else I do care about...

Thanks.
