Here I am.  Rock you like a hurricane.
Ironically, the Carolina Hurricanes' preseason game on Friday may likely be postponed due to the weather.

New track has it staying further out to sea, new track is aimed more at southern Jersey and Philadelphia. Though the track is still highly speculative at this point, since the storm hasn't pulled its northward turn yet.

Even without an NC landfall, the pressure trough means they're still calling for 4-9" of rain and flooding through much of central and eastern NC/SC.

Chris Christie has declared a state of emergency in New Jersey in anticipation of the hurricane.

I probably won't notice this one unless it curves and sends some storms inland. So good luck to everyone East of me.

This could mildly disrupt my schedule.
Amen.

It seems like it's turning east, and the odds of a landfall are diminishing.

Well.  I'm kinda torn.  I want school to cancel.  I do not want a flooding basement.

@ penguinofhonor and maniac, better to have a preemptive response than a botched or delayed response.

Or has everybody forgotten about hurricane Sandy by now?

I'm kinda torn, too. I want to not have to go to work. But I like money. And I also do not want a flooding basement.

Just kinda weird since he was ahead of the governors who were closer.

Well, so much for next week's hurricane party.

In all seriousness, I hope everyone north of me fares well with the storm. They're fun when you can handle them.

Well, I live in Philly so we never got most of Sandy, at least not as bad as NJ did obviously. I've never lived through another hurricane that I can remember, if at all, and especially never one that made landfall where I live. I don't trust that it is suddenly predicted to not make landfall, while it is possible, it is just as possible for the predictions to change back.

New track has the storm curving far sharper than initially expected, and basically doing a U-turn. It'll head NNE parallel to the East Coast of the United States, but completely missing land.

But in the Carolinas and southern Virginia, we're still looking at a stalled pressure front that is going to dump hurricane-like rain on us. 3"-6" in my area and points east and north, 5"-10" in a swath from the NC mountains and Piedmont down through coastal SC, and 10"-15" in upstate South Carolina.

So my river will probably not flood. Once again, the Apocalypse has been cancelled due to weather (or lack thereof).
