Your reminder that hurricane season ain't over yet.

TS Michael is churning in the Carribean off of the Yucatan and is predicted to hit the Florida panhandle area as a hurricane sometime around wenesday. I think CNN just mentioned a bit ago that the Florida governor declared a state of emergency and is preparing the areas being targeted by the storm.

I'd evacuate if it was me, don't know how far from the coast you are though.

Anyways, starting to get serious, it's now officially a hurricane and is expected to become a Cat 3 sometime tomorrow.

Far enough inland it's next to impossible to actually convince old people to evacuate, is how far. Fifty-sixty-ish miles off the coast? Something like that.

It hitting cat three instead of staying 1-2 is... unfortunate. Far as I'm aware currently it's probably going to be making landfall to my west... which is another way of saying if there's tornadoes they're most likely going to be in my direction. Yaaay.

Boarding up isn't really on the table (even if we had the materials the chance I could convince the home owners to do it is zero), but I've took off work for tomorrow to spend some time shuffling potential projectiles around the yard so they're less likely to starting believing they can fly.

We're far enough inland it probably won't be that bad, but better safe than sorry when the sky decides it's attempted murder day, et al.

I'm just hoping the power stays on, or at least doesn't go off for long, tbh. Yard flamingos we don't have can fly all they want if the AC stays running and the 80+ degree weather stays outside with the deathwind.
