Tower caps
« on: March 29, 2008, 07:48:00 pm »

Now, i've heard it being said that they'll grow if you flood an underground area with cave river water, however, on my current fort, i've blocked up an magma tile down at the smithies, for a completely unrelated reason, by dropping a little bit of murky pool water on it from above. I've now got a towercap growing out of one of the muddy tiles, now, though i do have a cave river on the map, all i've done is uncovered it, this water is in no way related to the river itself.

So, is this how its supposed to work?

As long as you have a cave river - tower caps will grow.

Opening up cave river water releases "spores" that immediately and instantaneously travel to all places on the map. They then will grow if the area is underground and muddy. This applies to tower-caps and all cave plants. Also, if you mod in any plants that grow in chasm areas or in lava tubes, those spores will grow when their respective areas are uncovered.

Yeah, in DF everythint breeds with spores. These spores aren't affected by anything such as physical boundaries or reality. That's how a dwarf can get pregnant through a granite wall.

They can grow on smoothed tile, but I don't think they can grow over floored tiles.
