So, it's Autumn, and I've got a good mind to slaughter the Dwarven Caravan.

Tell me, would it hamper the experiment were I to rebel against the Mountainhome in a fit of pique?

The only reaction to destroying the dwarven caravan would be a note about its destruction and your suspected involvement in it in Legends mode. Our home civ will never attack us. However, the dwarves that attacked the caravan would become subject to a loyalty cascade.

That's good to know. Thanks!

I suppose I'll just seize their goods.

You can't directly seize the dwarven caravan's goods. Instead, deconstruct the Trade Depot (EDIT: After the traders have arrived, of course) - this forces the traders to drop all of their items and immediately leave, a sort of brute-force seizing.

This sounds interesting, I'd like a turn! And a dorf, if we're doing that.

And what exactly makes this a "pseudo"-succession fort?

The pseudo part would be where the OP continues the fort if no else have signed up to do so.
Edit:Not a correct usage of the term, perchance... English be me second language... Ah yes: "Semi-Succession Fortress"

I shall claim a turn as well, it has been an interest of mine lately to fiddle about with genning to create more vibrant worlds, would be interesting to observe how this one pans out.

Also 'pseudo' in that this isn't character/roleplay based like most Fortresses.  The goal is simply to survive long enough that we can conclusively determine if maximum Civilization/Population/Site/Beast numbers have any impact on Invaders.  I have added the turn requests.  Lastly, I advise caution in starting war with the Elves this soon.  The next Overseers should still be doubling down on our military preparations, so that should be ok, as long as we are careful.

I'm done at last. I'm terribly sorry for not finishing sooner.

It was a rather unexciting year, all in all, as best evidenced by the summer report. Still, I made progress, without too many blunders, so it wasn't wasted.

Summer:

Winter

I've set up three new hotkeys.

Work on the grand mayoral chamber proceeds apace.

Also, I've got a siege workshop set up, building the requisite components for, at most, three ballistas.

Final stats for the year:
Created Wealth: 173000?
Imported Wealth: 55384
Exported Wealth: 5057
Population: 63
Births: 8
Livestock: 29
Dead units on map: 76
Total dead Dwarves: 5
Total other units on map: 30

I've probably forgotten to mention some things, so feel free to query me.

Here's the save.

Best luck to my successors!

For the mood, was he looking for cloth, or perhaps burrowed? Cloth moods require a specific kind (silk, plant, or wool) which the game doesn't tell you, and burrows interfere with moods as well.
And are you using a texture pack? Some of the stuff in your screenshots looks off.

Looks like you were quite busy, despite being a 'uneventful' year, lol.  Also it's been less than a week, so you needn't apologize for time ;)  Anyways, I have not played with ASCII in years now, I can't tell if anything is off or not.  By the way, how is our military looking?  When I tried this setup in a solo Fort, I began seeing small raiding parties about half-way through year 3.  I will pm the next in line.  Hopefully we will see hostiles start ramping up over the next 2-3 turns.

Immortal-D was using Phoebus, which lead to some things being off in ascii. I could have fixed it, but I didn't really see the need.

EDIT: Our military is decent. It's a simple, ten-man job, which I've been using primarily as exterminators, but they'll do, in a pinch. They definitely need more weapons and armor, though.
