Sadly, it does not. It has more to do with the war conditions.
Being plunged into a endless war to watch you and your friends die time and time again does not lead to many good memories.

so the idea is him experiencing positive stimulus was equivalent to triggering a flashback?  Sounds like he needs more of it later on to make peace with his demons.
