If you were going to actually map a multiverse, you would need at least five axes: 3 space, time, and probabilities.  And some measuring unit.

We do not have the means by which to travel time yet, so only 4 are relevant, and probabilities can ba abstracted to any probable direction we can take being to a location of the GM's choosing, relative to relevant information.

Well.  This is more like, the points at which universes can be crossed might be at different times, than, we can intentionally time travel.

And certainly the PLAYERS might need only two or three dimensions but in universe?  5D or bust.
But yeah, why, and, y'know, how, is there even a proper map?
How have they been able to map stuff?
