Init option for cursor colour

Most of my fortress is in a cavern layer with yellow sand, yellow native gold, and yellow cave moss. I have a lot of difficulty picking out the yellow cursor. I would like an init option to change the cursor colour.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

It could blink between colors like yellow/blue. Customization is good as well.

I support this idea.

I also support an Overseer creature, with a cursor-colored X for its tile.  If only I could mod it to make designations...

Perhaps there should be a DFHack thread, or subforum, for suggestions, provided such a thing does not already exist.

DFHack can do this pretty easily. The automaterial plugin already does this when building constructions, in fact (it changes the cursor to dark green when it's active).
