e: Dwarfs Gather Eggs
« on: November 15, 2015, 10:59:39 pm »

Sorry if this has been suggested already, but I couldn't find it:

Under the Orders menu, can we please have a toggle for whether dwarfs will collect eggs? It's rather cumbersome having to fuss with every food stockpile and the kitchen menu whenever you want to hatch something.  Again, sorry if this was already said.

Alternatively, you can just forbid the eggs in the nest or put them behind a locked door.  All the same, it is very fussy and I approve of an option to make this simpler.

It's an even bigger deal when you're playing a modded game where the fortress species are egg layers.  Trying to hatch babies instead of eating them is disturbingly complicated.

I support this suggestion.

Maybe have the options be "Dwarves Gather Eggs: All, Infertile, None", though that might be considered too easy.

I don't see why it would be too easy; if anything, it'd be more realistic as real farmers sometimes candle the eggs rather than just eat them automatically.

Why was this not implemented already?

+1. This is especially relevant since animal people will be able to join our forts in vanilla in the upcoming release.
