"Single-minded soldiers, rash reactions, fatal finales." Aras chanted as he conjured wind to the tip of his fingers and focused it into small blades of air. Not pretty, but such was life.

Wind Knight A.

Code: (Aras vs In Knight A +3; +5) [Select]
Hit, Knight Killed! //Roll was lost, this was result however

The magic-laced wind struck true and passed straight through the metal of the knight's armor and out the back. The knight grunted, still stubbornly holding his ground before finally toppling over with a loud crash. The mage behind the knight looked painfully aware of being surrounded by hostile units, holding her book up defensively, as if it would stop a blow.

ALLY PHASE

Fridenot moved closer to the group, trying to keep up.

Jingle Jangles the Paladin, however, has no such restraint. Van was deftly vaulted over by the walking armory, who brandished and pointed his steel axe towards the small group of wounded soldiers ahead accusingly.

"YOU! Blood-dipped lance and battle weary, I'll not give you another warning! You stand in DIRECT opposition of the neutrality this place was founded on, and I am its enforcer! And I demand RECOMPENSE for the hell ravaged upon my streets! Lay down your arms and you will be tried, stay your decision and my blade will find you wanting!" From the look on his face, he seems to be hoping they'll hesitate for too long.

The paladin's company tried to keep up but ultimately fell short, unable to keep with the man's stride. The knight grumbled to herself, "I hate it when he gets worked up like this."

ENEMY PHASE

Code: (An Mercenary C vs Merc In Mage A) [Select]
Get your weight on!
Hit, Mage A killed! //Same as above

The book didn't stop the strike from the mercenary, who cleaved through it with a heavy blow and finding purchase in her head. With a sick sound of cracked bone, the mercenary grinned and wretched it free, lost to his own world. The swordswoman behind him however had her eyes trained on the Jingle Jangles and looks very much worried. "Hey, hey! I think that's a goddamn paladin! We need to get out, now! Before he notices us, come on!"

The soldiers all glanced at one another before looking back at the paladin. They nodded as one and took a step forward... Except it was only the rightmost soldier who continued moving, the other three dropping their weapons quietly.

Code: (In Soldier E vs Uxanin Paladin +3) [Select]
Hit: 92 - 15 - 24 = 53
Roll: 12! Hit!
Crit: 40
Damage: 13 - 6 - 1 = 6!

Uxanin Paladin Counters!
Hit: 94 + 15 - 11 = 100
Roll: Autohit!
Crit: 93
Damage: 20 + 1 - 6 = 15!

Jangles took a hit to the chest with the spear, but his armor shielded him well and delivered two quick retorts that left the soldier dead on floor, gasping his last breath. The three soldiers who abandoned him to his fate don't look to have much mixed feelings about his death.

A soldier up ahead saw the fight and just turned right back on around. Seeing what she left, she's starting to regret both decisions.

Niamh winced as the mage was cut down, before curtly calling out,

"Van, I could use some healing. Ueli, Aras, bow girl, take down the merc who just killed the mage. If the other wants to surrender, let her. Everyone else, form up behind our temporary boss. Speaking of, excuse me sir, I noticed a chest back there that could hold an item that would be of use to us in this fight. Do you perhaps have some sort of key to that so we could use whatever is in there to end this fight?"

Van was more than just a little peeved that the merc had killed the mage after she surrendered. Gripping the woman's wrist he sped off to heal Niamh. As his magic healed her wounds he mentally voiced his anger.

<"What the hell is that asshole's problem!?">

E22, heal Niamh.

Jingle grunted and hefted the axe on his shoulder as he saw the rest surrender. "PITY, would have been fun."

The man grimaced at the question, weighing it for a moment. "So be it. YOU!" Jangles shoved a finger towards the axeman. "Watch her, make sure she takes NO MORE than is needed!" The paladin turned his gaze one last time to Niamh as the axeman snapped off a salute in affirmation.  "I expect those back." Something else caught his gaze as he was turning back around, seeing movement from behind the store. "Now, what do we have here..."

Code: (Ueli vs An Mercenary C +3) [Select]
//Invalid move, moved to H22.
Hit: 99 + 15 - 14 - 5 = 95
Roll: 70
Crit: 87
Damage: 9 + 1 - 3 = 7!
Adept: 78

An Mercenary C retorts!
Hit: 102 + 5 - 15 - 13 = 89
Roll: 76
Crit: 58
Damage: 11 - 6 = 5!

The spear to the shoulder jolted the sword-clad soldier back and out of his daze and struck out in response, the man snarling at Ueli. "Well, so much for enemy of my enemy." The swordswoman behind him chided him. "Why did you even think that? Look, let's get out of here, we're outnumbered and outgunned!" The swordsman grunted and held his sword out, sizing up his enemies. "...Yeah, yeah. Got one at least."

Code: (Van uses Heal +3) [Select]
Niamh: +13 HP

The heal staff topped with a cyan sphere glowed softly as the magical light closed Niamh's wounds, a soothing if unsettling feeling of rapidly regrowing flesh. The paladin turned his attention to the silent healer. "Mercenary, leave the civilian in the embassy. My forces have it SECURED!" He clanked his gauntlet against his breastplate as emphasis. "Don't endanger noncombatants needlessly!" From inside the embassy, the prior chosen axeman spoke up with an offer. "I can see her safely inside while escorting your friend."

//Aras move on hold until position given!

With a shrug to Van and a nod of thanks to the paladin, Niamh moved over and took the keys.

Code: (Missed EXP for the three surrendering soldiers; +3, +3, +3) [Select]

Niamh took the keys from the Bo-Jangles the paladin without much incident, the solid keys clinking on their ring. He hands it to her by a single key, wordless instruction as to which unlocks the chest.

Code: (Aras vs An Merc C; +3, +5) [Select]
Hit: 111 - 14 - 5 = 92
Roll: 24! Hit!
Crit: 44
Damage: 9 - 0 = 9!

Aras strode forth as the swordsman growled and readied his sword to strike at Ueli once more. "But I ain't leaving just ye--" There was a flash of green light and a strong gust that caught the An rebel in his chest and sent him tumbling backwards, a heavy gash opened on his chest and ending his life.

"Idiot. Well, screw this." The female An soldier behind him dropped her sword and rose her hands, obviously having had enough. "I'd rather face my chances in court than die for sure."

Code: (An Merc A Surrenders; +5) [Select]

Anata moves to assist, but the deed was already done.

ALLY PHASE

The paladin's guards move forward and show those surrendered where to go. The axeman, true to his word, takes the civilian from Van to show them to safety while escorting Niamh.

Fridenot moved to up with the group, looking warily ahead at the chaos and smoke.

ENEMY PHASE

The heavily hurt soldier took one glance at the large group heading towards him and the allies be taken away without their weapons. He turned and continued running.

Up ahead, the fight continued on with smoke and clattering of metal. Even from where the party is, they could see the many figures screaming in rage and fighting among the fire and smoke.

"Ignorance's not always a virtue. Cheers to your wise decision." Aras bowed courteously to the An soldier who surrendered before grouping up as ordered.
