~Prologue: Darkened Neutrality~

Red, blue, green, brown. Strength, speed, skill, unity.

That was the colors of the Grand Uxanin embassy, a place within the neutral cities of Uxanin for the split nation to congregate and talk on ground none dare to attack. These places have often become the starting places of mercenaries looking to get a foot in the door, merchants, those seeking refuge from the outside world, or even those seeking interests further in the country where travel would be more dangerous. Reputed to be perhaps the only bastions of sanity and peace within the ever-warring Uxanin.

Red, blue, green, brown. Now filthy with blood, cracks of heavy blows, distant shouts, and the choking smell of fire.

Something has gone horribly wrong.

Seven rushed through open doors into the lobby of the embassy, the once grand entrance now dingy and the floors ruined. An aging swordsman grunted as he heaved two solid doors shut, blocking the way they came from, locking it fast with a sword between the holds of the door. With a silent pause, the door seemed to be untouched but the din of fighting could be heard through even the solid stone walls.

Finally safe, if even for a bit, the swordsman cursed. "This is neutral ground. Neutral! Does that not mean anything anymore?!" He sighed. "This is a damned mess." He turned towards the other six, only two of them unknown to him. Niamh, Aras, Clarisse, Van, and as he would later learn Ueli and Anata. Mercenaries on the hunt of work in a land filled with war, and a Vernin embassy guard with bodyguard of her own who reached their destination at what could only be the worst of times.

"We have to get out of this city, the fighting is only getting worse and we can't stay here forever. Com--" There was a loud thunk as the sword strained to hold the door closed. Fridenot rushed to hold the door. "NOW!"

The doors flung open to the frantic screams of war. Its an all out brawl outside the embassy, with soldiers from all three sides clashing together and the citizens of the city stuck in the middle.

Anata, Ueli, Aras, Van, Niamh, and Clarisse are in!

Clarisse held her axe at the ready, looking around at the burning and bleeding town.

"Which way do we go?

The Verniner's bodyguard, a blue-haired and spear-wielding man who had not taken off his smiling mask the entire time he had been there, sighed and ran his hand down his mask.
:"Oh man, out of the frying pan and into the fire, huh...? This is NOT what I was looking for when I ditched Grednar."

The cloaked, half-masked individual looked out at the city before him.

"Well, north is certainly one option." he commented.

"<Any ideas Niamh?>" he asked his traveling companion without actually speaking.

"Always the civilians." the masked man who was part of the mercenary group commented sadly.

Niamh frowned as she looked out at the scene, gently tapping the hilt of the sword strapped to her waist. This wasn't a good situation. Glancing around, she noted the door and the closer forces. She nodded, partially to herself and partially as a response to Van. She gave herself a slight shake and then snapped out a few orders.

"Right. We're going to hold here for now. Van, you're in the back because you're our healer. Ranged fighters, to the sides. You, with the spear, we'll hold right inside the doors so that someone who attacks us will have to approach our ranged fighters too. There are civilians out there though, so if possible, I want us to move forward soon. Van, stay away from those doors in case they get breached. Someone else help protect those doors."

She pulled out a mask from one of the deep inside pockets of her jacket and placed it over her face.

"They've breached the peace of this sanctuary. They won't get away with it."

"Got it. I do hope we manage to save a few people." Though normally laidback, the mage sounded worried.

Anata cringed. She wasn't supposed to be here, with these... these vultures. Mercenaries, bandits, doesn't matter what they call themselves- she was supposed to be in the Verninian army, or a justice-seeking vigilante! Not with... these people. Unfortunately, it seems the world chose to force the archer to fight through the embassy-turned battlefield with said people, however much she wished otherwise.

Not much time to think of that now, though. These particular mercenaries seem... bearable to deal with; and the plan of the pinkish-haired lady sounds sane...
"Damned mask-wearing vagabonds, the lot of them..."

Van recognized the green haired girl as one who he didn't know the true name of and was conveniently not wearing a mask.

"You. Green hair. What's your name?"

Anata sighed. She could, in fact, not tell him her name, but it would be wise to give a name her temporary allies could call out to address her.
"I am Anata, mercenary." She spat out the last word like a curse.

Van rolled his eyes, not that Anata could see both of them.

"A pleasure to meet you, victim of circumstance who requires our 'mercenary' assisstence to escape this alive. Especially mine, as I'm the one with a heal staff."
