Can you specify a favored equipment/type of equipment for a creature to arrive with as a megabest?

Is it possible to add things to the item_food.txt file?

Like adding in another [LEVEL:4] kind of meal, perhaps?

Sometimes, I feel the lower level metal armour/weapons like copper and bronze(s), are almost completely irrelevant - since goblins and humans can use iron, then copper and bronze weapons and armour are really at a disadvantage.

So, what I am wondering, is if there is a way to prevent a civilisation from using iron to make armour and weapons, and limit them to bronze ?

Steel armour, I know I can restrict, because it's a reaction, so you just make sure the entity doesn't have the steel reaction permitted.

But what, if anything, can you do to make a civilisation only use bronze ?

Ideally, I'd like one civilisation to prefer bronze, another to use black bronze, another to use bismuth bronze, for their equipment, just for the sake of variety.

There's no graceful way to block it, no. If a civ can use metals at all and it has access to iron from the ground, it knows how iron works and will use iron in their things.

Take away the METAL_ORE:IRON tag from the iron ores and make that metal strictly a reaction product too, like bronze and steel?

I see, hmm.

So, something like, remove "[METAL_ORE:IRON]" from the ores, replace it with something like:
"[REACTION_CLASS:IRON_ORE]"

Then have this as a reaction:
[REACTION:SMELT_IRON]
   [NAME:make iron]
   [BUILDING:SMELTER:NONE]
   [REAGENT:A:1:BOULDER:NONE:NONE:NONE][REACTION_CLASS:IRON_ORE]
   [PRODUCT:100:4:BAR:NO_SUBTYPE:METAL:IRON][PRODUCT_DIMENSION:150]
   [FUEL]
   [SKILL:SMELT]

then have
[PERMITTED_REACTION:SMELT_IRON]

in the entity entries for the civilisations that I want to use iron ?

and ofc, to make sure the relevant civilisations are only permitted to use black bronze or bismuth bronze, if I want to make them use those exclusively.

Though, I kind of like the idea of ordinary soldiers wearing plain bronze, squad leaders wearing bismuth bronze, and commanders wearing black bronze. heh.

Yeah, I think that's all you need. Go hog wild.

Black bronze would be horrible gaudy trash as a martial metal, though. Can you imagine any worse metals than copper, silver and gold to take a pummeling?

Bronze is better than iron in some cases. They're really about equal usefulness wise; bronze breaks easier, but dents less easily.

Do megabeasts with the SUBTERRANEAN_CHASM biome work? As in, will they successfully attack a fortress once the attack triggers are met? Will they attack forts during worldgen like forgotten beasts?
I'd like to know the answer to this one as well - would be very useful.

What usage hint do I put in an interaction to make something use it all the time? I don't think no hint works any more. Every hint, maybe?
