Development data?
« on: December 27, 2015, 04:03:05 pm »

Given the truly staggering subjects on which I've seen DF'ers collect and collate data about, I'm wondering if anyone has done the data analysis of the version releases themselves?

I've been following DF for at least 7 years now. There's probably enough data to make statistically relevant projections about things like:

* time interval between releases
* time between a new version release and "stable release" (ie, from 0.34.00 to 0.34.11)
* time between version release and stable dfhack (or other utility) release

Now that I'm thinking about it, there's probably enough data and longevity in this community to write a master's thesis on indie project development.

1) 3D6 months
2) 1) / 1D4 months
3) The day before the next release renders it obsolete.

1) can also be said to be 'about twice as long as originally predicted'
