Too bad, I don't think you can make a forge using gold anvil, as it will insists on iron or steel.

It's an artifact, so I assume it's indestructible.  But the forge building seems to look for iron or steel only. 

The only way I could make use of non-iron, non-steel artifact anvil to make a forge was to dfhack change the material to iron/steel, build it, then change material back to gold.

Since the material is only being change, the quality of it being an artifact stays intact. 

However, the material block of the forge will also change because of the way change item works on the (k) cursor.

I could not tell what it was.  I used Armor Vision and I cannot adjust how many z levels to show at a time.

use stonesense and spam 2 (or 1) to max out visible levels. Enter rotates the view

Guys. I just had a great idea. We need to build a tavern. In the shape of a giant mug. And then fill the middle with lava, and call it the "Fire Ale Tavern" :P
