I have my Iron maiden, black sabbath, motorhead and Judas priest on, unless I feel particularly dwarfish, then it's viking metal or melodic death metal.

Metal about Vikings.
The songs generally sound like a viking saga, but metal-ised.

Usually Howard Shore's LotR soundtrack. When that runs out (a particularly long DF session), I switch to something equally soothing and soft, such as 10,000 Maniacs.

I'm currently listening to Guardians of fate by Ensiferum.

I usually listen to the Nightwish songs The Islander, Ghost Love Score, Over the Hills and Far away and Meadows of Heaven.
Usually some Lacuna Coil or if I'm not in the mood for that kind of singing I'd indulge in my favourite Pagan/Viking metal bands whilst I slaughter the elves.

I just have VLC media player shuffling every episode of Family Guy and Futurama ad infinitum.  Though it should be noted that I do the same thing at work, too.

Assuming DF will eventually be able to display more tiles than it currently does (80xwhatever, I think) I will have to turn to music, as my whole screen will be glorious DF.  Seriously - the ability to truly resize the visual area and the ability for graphics sets to cover terrain and items - once those two are in, I will be a happy camper.

I frequently listen to Bjorn Lynne's fantasy/medieval music when playing DF and other roguelikes.  You can listen to midi versions of the music here:
Bjorn Lynne's MIDI samples<P>Try a few from the first column.  It seems to fit Dwarf Fortress nicely.  Beware the Quicktime music player, though; Quicktime doesn't appear to handle some of the songs correctly on my system.

Me too :) I used to listen to Lynnes music playing Darklands (medieval rpg) a couple years ago and it fits DF as well.

I also listen to the Divine Divinity soundtrack available free here: http://www.kirillpokrovsky.com/), other gamemusic like Dungeon Siege, and a mix of Cybertribe, Blackmore's Night, Loreena McKennit, Death can dance, Lisa Gerrard, Apocalyptica and more

I'll listen to a lot of Nobuo Uematsu's stuff, mainly the soundtracks for Final Fantasy IX and Lost Odyssey.

Though recently I've taken to listening to Turnabout Jazz Soul and Turnabout Orchestra, the jazz and orchestral versions of the Ace Attorney game soundtracks.

Various tunes I've had that came on my shuffle list and worked just perfectly for what I was doing;

Evil Sweeper Furious Harmony Godspeed Vivix - During an Adventure in a goblin fortress.

Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight by Tim Tiny - When a dwarf went mad and was running about naked.

Yakety Sax - Magma Flood

Katamari On The Rocks, Main Theme - DRAGONS ARGH

Edvard Grieg's music for Peer Gynt, especially Hall of the Mountain King.  March of the Trolls is a good one, also.

That and Dreamevil.  Cheesy hair metal!  Just the thing for my dwarves as they tromp about in spiky leather loincloths.

If I have a map where fires are constantly raging or a dragon just rampaged through, I have to constantly resist (and usually fail to resist) putting on Disco Inferno. Burn dwarfy burn!
