I think I have come up with a solution! To goblins punching my poor precioussss snakes to death. How will goblins kill my precioussss little snakes with their big nasssssty punches if they dont have armssssssss or handsssss to punch them with!!!!

For the sake of !!!SSSSSCIENCE!!! I MUST TEST THE COMBAT EFFECTIVENESSSS OF GOBLINSSSS WITHOUT ARMSSSSSS!!!

Yeah, pretty much this from my experience. It also helps if they are already unconscious, or stunned.

Trust me, they're pretty ineffective. The hard part is going to be getting rid of their arms without killing them.

Turnssss out goblinsssss without armsssss dont do well against a sssssswarm of bushmassssterssssss.

How did I remove their arms you may ask well I had a bunch of dwarfs beat on the goblin with all his Armour except for anything that could protect his arms. By the end his arms were mangled and useless, perfect for my precious ssssswarmssss o !!!

Helmet snakes anyone? I mean you gotta love the name, and they are at least modestly dangerous... Also they can be bred, and their venom causes necrosis and vomiting. By creating a proper helmet snake industry you could have an unlimited supply of the buggers, and even the nastiest goblin would go down after a few bites.

Imagine if they made plump helmet snakes!

EDIT: Wait a second... can you acquire giant pythons in your biome? I could imagine those would work very well!

You're forgetting the part where you mod in and breed fire snakes, contained in a room made entirely out of pitchblende/admantium blocks (15000 urists of heat spat out by snakes makes it pretty hard to handle, let alone more than one) by modding the egg material to be fire immune (practically) and using magma crab men to collect them for a industry.

ANYTHING without a [FIRE IMMUNE] tag will most certainly die and melt (three times hotter than lava by 1 snake). The heat will destroy metal, bones too probably, and even probably melt the gunks of fat that slough off them immediately. Being vermin, they cannot be targeted, and even so, modding them to be regular animals makes this even easier (providing you can get past the - constantly spitting out fire bit)

Harder floors means a bigger splat by falling, if you want to go the typical animal pit route. Rampant wild giant/octopuii are better for animal traps if you ask me because of the ink they shoot out obscuring all vision, giant cave spiders of the sea that breed fully adult and turn on a dime.

Just a bit of an update. I have began testing the possibility of using bushmasters as guards.

Turns out that their venom is pretty potent and seems to be effective with even one bite.

I can see it now

"Hey mcgoblinsteve where the hell are the dwarfs"

"Who cares we got loot to plunder"

Steps into room all doors lock and shut.

"What the hell... is that slithering"

And then a thousand snakes drop into the room and devour mcgoblinsteve

One of my first rube-golddwarf defense machines was a system that dropped live saltwater crocodiles onto invaders.

I like to think there was a Captain-Hook style ticking before the ceiling opened up.

I get this feeling that you know nothing about how snakes eat.

Clearly the Dwarves conditioned the snakes to devour victims instead of swallowing them whole!

To the poster: Have you considered pythons/GIANT pythons?

Don't black mambas have the deadliest venom? And they have giant variants as well...

You have clearly not ssssssseen the power OF DWARF EUGENIC SCIENCE!

Also I have taken it upon myself to start testing snake !!!SCIENCE!!! in an attempt to find the biggest, the baddest and the deadliest snake.

Right after I finish studying :D will post results soon

The Elves just sold me a Giant black mamba. I wish I could send it to you.

Step 1: Make a pit in the shape of an airplane.

Step 2: Drop goblins in it.

Step 3: Pull the lever and release the Giant mambas/pythons/rattlesnakes that the goblins will have had it with die horribly from.

?? ??

Step 4: Profit.
