Choose Your Fate: Roll To Dodge - Turn 3
« on: March 23, 2016, 10:41:44 pm »

Once upon a roll, in a land and time unknown, there existed a game. It was a relatively simple game: You rolled a die, and you learned your fate. That’s it, really. No matter what the die said, it came true. If you rolled exceptionally, you were excited. And, if you rolled poorly... Well...

It makes me think: Is that how we all got here? To this place, to this time, is this how we came to be what we are now?

Does it even really matter if we were brought here by luck or fate or choice?

Yes. Absolutely. Because then the world has a purpose.

That’s why we stole it.

There are those in this world that use and abuse this power for evil. We are not among them. But we will do whatever it takes to keep this out of your grasp.

You have been warned. Stay away.

You are the elite of the elite. No, more than likely, you are the lucky of the lucky. You belong to a secret organization, of which there is no official name (‘For security reasons,’ you mouth silently), leading to an unofficial name of NON. NON’s goal is to retrieve powerful and dangerous objects, people, or abilities and make sure mankind remains safe from them. Those that perform their jobs satisfactorily are rewarded handsomely and eventually retire in luxury.

As you are a member of NON, you’ve been summoned by your superiors to reclaim an artifact, stolen from the organization itself. As usual, NON has refused to give you any useful information about the artifact other than the object can fit into your hand, and that it is very powerful. The culprit is an ex-NON member by the ID of D-6.

You’ll be dropped off in a location near the artifact, along with 7 others. Should you prove successful and retrieve the artifact, you will need to return back to the drop-off site. The compound is heavily guarded, surrounded by traps and monstrosities,  and they know you’re on your way.

If you survive this arduous task, you will surely receive a promotion or reward--but more likely another mission. If not, then your family will never see you again. Not that they see you now, but you get the picture.

Now is the time to report in and make sure you've got all your forms in order.

Completely! HR is now processing the paperwork as we speak.

The hero has arrived and he has already brought the first artifact!

As a note, you won't get any bonus to dodge unless used explicitly, so no fancy-shmancy dodging everything. If you'd like to change this, that is fair. But, we'll get the simulation team working on your file regardless.

Spoiler: Harry Hudson (click to show/hide)
Doctors seem to say your fit and ready to go, so you can head on over to the shooting range until we call you.

Ah so do you have any recommendations for a skill other then dodging I'm thinking of something defensive really.

Well, your abilities wouldn't activate by themselves, but you can keep dodge. It just wouldn't only be when actively dodging: "I try to dodge the missile" would give you a bonus, but being shot by someone while that happens would follow the dodge rules. You could be a Dabbling Shield User or a Dabbling Dodger or a Dabbling Blocker or what have you, but you won't dodge mid-action any better with any of those. Everyone has to Roll To Dodge the same as the next person.

What sort of balancing rules are in effect on the powers? What's the maximum power level, for example. If we do multiple abilities does that just mean each one will be scaled down accordingly?

Also, making a sheet.

Spoiler: Nice (Nisa) Williams (click to show/hide)

Eh, the power is not all that inspired, I guess.

I'd prefer some level of balance here. If you're a Dabbling Immortal, for example, things aren't quite fair for everyone else. A Dabbling World Destroyer will be dealing with some really harsh GMing backlash.

Basically, I'm not here to stop fun. If you want to be a Dabbling Particle Mover, I'm up for that. Just be willing to deal with the consequences of a [1] or a [6]. Or worse, a [0]. You can be strong or weak or whatever you want, but the harder you try to break your character, the worse it'll be for you when you fail.

But, I like roleplaying, so if you can keep it entertaining, then the show keeps going.

Hmm? I was under the impression that it was fairly tame. The ability to cause a light breeze (at level 1) doesn't come across to me as a particularly dangerous ability to have, it's just a subset of telekinesis that I thought would be interesting.
