The issue is the majority of good stuff for many builds needs Twinkling Titanite or a more rare stone. Sure, you can upgrade all the basic stuff to +5, but there are few things I want to do that for (exception being things like the Alva set). I found DS2 the most annoying for that - EVERYTHING needs twinkling titanite, which even late game is a very rare resource.

You know I've never been clear on this.  If all but one of the dragons were wiped out in the opening cutscene for DS1... why does every game have dragons?

It never said that all the dragons died. And most of the dragon-like creatures in the games are not true dragons, but more like their descendants.

Wyvern =/= dragon

No, really. They're different. Like in 1 the Bridge Asshole is the Hellkite Wyvern, etc. Also, IIRC, it was all but some, not most. Kalameet is an actual dragon, as is the Ancient Dragon that gives you the one covenant.

All the "dragons" in Dark Souls are wyverns/drakes.
