I probably will at some point. I expect I'll get a lot of the post-gen stuff, but miss out on all the new world-gen material.

I'm gonna start messing about in adventure mode. Should be fun!
I'm seeing lots of new "monastery" structures already, in world-gen.

I know, right?! Weirdly good timing on my part.

Anyway: holy gosh there is so much juicy skullduggery going on in the first world I've genned in this version.
I like how the human Usmok Foldgem spent about half of his life behind bars in the town of Modestwhisky but still managed to run his criminal empire from the inside. He also killed someone who attacked him in prison. At least, I assume he was still in prison - the game lists when someone is imprisoned, but not when they're released.
After his death from old age, the house he'd bought with his ill-gotten funds remained empty for almost three centuries before being bought by an elf.
There goes the neighbourhood...

And that's just one guy from almost the very beginning of time! From what I saw from a brief glance at the most recent historical figures (which drew me to Modestwhisky and its parent civ, the Ochre Band) most everyone born in the place is a criminal from birth. Also a lot of olm people, for some reason. I'll have to investigate further when I have time.

I was having a deep and meaningful discussion about potato gems online when I remembered: I have a bag of those in the freezer here from years ago! Unopened! Also I am really hungry right now! O, what serendipitous happenstance.

Haha, I believe the 'Muricans call them "tater tots", which is also a pretty cool name for 'em if I'm being honest.
Though potato gems are kind of different from actual croquettes, I think. They're smaller and rougher and probably greasier? I'm no expert.

Anyway, right now I am kind of Excited to learn that Mutant Year Zero (the videogame, not the tabletop system which I only just learned was a thing) was ported to PS4! Now, most of you are probably like "wtf is that exciting for", well, I don't have a gaming rig and so my attempt at playing the demo on my laptop back when it released did not go very well.
It did leave me rather interested in playing the game properly, though - especially since the demo is still in my Steam library as a reminder. Also I'm excited to find any half-decent turn-based strategy on a platform I can run it on, really. I had some good times playing the 3d XCOM back on my PS3 until it kinda exploded.
Never mind that consoles tend to not be very suited for such games, it's still fun. At least we aren't talking an RTS or something.

Though that's actually trademarked, so packaging from other companies will have other names.

Dutch: aardappel kroketten (potato croquettes)
'kroket (plural kroketten)' is a dutch word / culinary specialty. The word is indeed adapted from french.
A kroket is beef meat ragout wrapped in breadcrumbs fried in oil.

Quote from: wikipedia
After World War II, several suppliers started mass-producing croquettes[17] filled with beef. The croquette (kroket in Dutch) subsequently became even more popular as a fast food; meat ragout covered in breadcrumbs which is subsequently deep-fried. Its success as a fast food garnered its reputation as a cheap dish of dubious quality, to such an extent that Dutch tongue in cheek urban myths relate its "allegedly mysterious content" to offal and butchering waste.[18] Research in 2008 showed that 350 million kroketten are eaten in the Netherlands every year. An estimated 75% of all Dutch people eat them, resulting in 29 kroketten per person per year on average, being the 2nd most popular Dutch snack after the frikandel. The major consumers are between 35 and 49 years old.[19]
The success of the croquette led to a whole series of food products resembling the croquette, but with other types of fillings, such as noodles, rice and kidney, and with names like bamibal, nasibal, and nierbroodje instead of croquette. Variants of the croquette which specify the kind of meat can also be found, like rundvleeskroket (made with beef) and kalfsvleeskroket (made with veal). Also popular in Dutch snack bars are the satékroket (where the filling consists of a peanut satay sauce and shredded meat in a ragout) and the goulashkroket. A smaller round version of the standard beef or veal croquette, the bitterbal,[17] is often served with mustard as a snack in bars and at receptions. Potato croquettes and potato balls (similar to potato croquettes, but small and round) can be bought frozen in most food stores. Broodje kroket, a croquette on a bread roll, is sold in restaurants, snack shops, and even by street vendors. The popularity of the kroket in the Netherlands is such that even McDonald's sells their version on a bun as "McKroket".
