So I finally bought civ 6 after a nice sale and am reviving this thread because I will inevitably have questions.

As for my first, what do I do to speed up a cultural victory? I'm obviously going to win at the rate I am going with more than double the tourism than the next guy who went for a cultural victory. I'm stealing all the great works I can but it still looks like It's going to take at least another 50 turns before I can finish a cultural victory. That's 50 turns of mindlessly clicking on random buildings to build, technology to research, and civics to learn. Things that just will no longer speed up my cultural victory.

This is a problem I have with not just Civ games, but other 4x or strategy games. There is often a point where the current play through is 'in the bag' but actual victory is some distance away. It can be partially remedied by harder difficulty settings or adjusting game speed, but the point when you achieve an unassailable advantage rarely coincides with the actual end criteria.

Well, check your civics, there are some designed to power home a cultural win. Perhaps some left to research. Also there are a few wonders that help (Cristo Redentor)

You might already be doing this, but a few things that can help is trade routes and open borders with nations.  These both give a massive targeted boost to tourism.

Also, is anyone else looking forward to the upcoming expansion?  Some of the changes look pretty fun: https://www.civilization.com/news/entries/announcing-civilization-vi-rise-and-fall

This game is getting buggier every time I play. England moved about a dozen units into one of my territories while we were allies, and never removed them. Ending the alliance/friendship/open borders didn't get rid of them, so now I cannot develop the land because they just won't move their units.

After that, I said screw it, decided to just wait until they go to war with someone, and refriended them. A few turns later, Russia declares war on me. Now England is at war with me... They took my builders with their units, I can attack their units. Russia and England are not allies. Me and England declared friendship. I got no declaration from England. The status next to England says we are friends. I can't make peace with them. I can ask them for an alliance but they want literally all my money (hundreds a turn and everything I have) in exchange.

It's really sad that such a popular franchise looks like it was released and abandoned.

Hmm, haven't seen anything like that happen yet to me. Might want to report that one to Firaxis.

They are coming out with a DLC soon?  It's hardly abandoned.  I would also report that one.

I would call this DLC an expansion, because of all the things it adds.

Yeah abandoned wasn't the right word. I feel that parts of the game (like the civics system) just feel out of place and unfinished. And I'm not going to call improvements to these through paid DLC continued support.

Chances are there will be a patch released with the expansion that may fix some of the issues.  There is also a chance there will not be.

Deep down I hope the expansion improves AI.  Last game I watched a Japanese settler (escorted by a catapult for some reason) walk & sail half way across the map to a perfect spot (which I wanted), and then instead of building a city on the perfect spot he changed his mind and walked his settler all the way back for no possible sane reason.

It'll probably just make the AI worse somehow though.

I just tried playing again to see if the AI changed enough to make the expansion worth buying but unfortunately it still seems pretty horrible. Civ AI has never really been brilliant but it just feels like something is fundamentally wrong with it in this iteration of the series. For me Civ VI is probably the biggest disappointment in gaming in the last decade.

Some notes I've made, 1. The A.I still cheats, was sieging the cities capital in the VERY early game (warrior and a couple of slingers) and watched as it spawned 2 warriors in about 3 turns 2. This loyalty thing is SUPER stressful.
