I prefer the 1st one, unless there will come a need where I will like to accurately shoot a sword far away.

A slightly more difficult-to-implement idea:
Why not both? But lose the black circle and replace the blue dot with a pointer.
Alternatively, further replace the pointer with the actual sword/wielding weapon.

I played the game for a short time, and noticed a few small errors:
-The window is titled "Gloryaxe"
-The screen upon death reads: "You died...and were eaten alive by a mutant
-The protagonist gets stuck on walls. This is most noticeable in narrow hallways. This caused my demise quite a few times.

Thank you for sharing your project on Bay12. I enjoyed the time I spent with it, even though I found it was not really my type.

Why u mak gam so hard. You put this out of range of filthy casuals.

Also last I checked anyone that can chug potions with those controls deserves it.

Why are you adding multiple types of potions, this is very complicated for a tiny reaction simulator!

You are adding really large amounts of unnecessary complexity. An inventory system??? What the hell does that add? Tedious micromanagement, a good spot to fumble buttons, and a UI that takes precious screen space.

Here is my take: Room for multiple healing potions that are all the same type. Room for exactly one buff potion. There is one and only one hotkey that drinks a health potion and a buff potion at the same time.

A program is complete not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to remove.

Give me one good reason not to cut out the inventory system.

Man I should listen to myself. I don't know what got into me. I Just got vicious and smelled blood. I wanted to give a non-hippie feedback? And was very rude.

My points: This game is really hard so far. Even with large amounts of time to commit to videogaming and becoming good, fighting off monsters seems like a real commitment. And many people won't see it any other way.
And the potions thing wasn't supposed to be a personal dig at you but as written it was?
Complexity- sorry but it is complex already.
My take is just my stupid idea. I always had trouble hitting the potion button while juggling four other buttons and mouse control in Nox by Westwood studios.
The program thing was a valid but passive-agressive point.
I don't see the point in your inventory system. I think that asking the question, Why? Would reveal that it's not necessary, or at the very least that you aren't adding a whole lot of depth to the game the way you currently use it.

It's been a few weeks since I played but IIRC you could use items from the inventory using the number buttons, which is easier than clicking them.
