Good news guys. My plumbering is as succes. We now have secured magma and water access !

I DECLARE I AM FINISHED !

To begin with. I turned off invaders and migrants (in init files, so it's only for me). Don't want things to get crazy just yet.

Goal : Pump magma to the fortress. 105z layers ? Easy !
So I need many, many, (many ?) glass components for pumps.
First, I need to get some basic sand industry going.
So I need magma, to fuel the furnaces, and sand. Don't want to rely on wood here.
To get magma, I have to dig to the magma sea. I also need to have iron minecarts.

Let's do this !

- Thriggle, I dorfed you as the mayor ;)
- I've created a safe sand zone on the surface. It's sealed properly.
- I've dupe-melted some iron and got magma in minecarts. Brought them up to fuel sand industry.
- Located the magma sea. Brought 4/7 magma up to begin glass production.

Fun facts :
> Lost about half an hour of dwarven work waiting for minecarts to be forged. Turned out that Urist McMagma decided he would be the only one worthy enough to wield the forge.
Removed this luxury from him. I'm thinking about a way to punish him once I have access to the hot liquid.
Spoiler: McMagma (click to show/hide)

> We now have a legendary glassmaker and legendary soldiers !

> Aaaaaaand also... You know my profession is "the flood master", well... Once again :

Yeah... I did it again... But in my defense, aquifers have changed ! I swear ! I suspect pressure shenanigans, I checked and it was all fine, that hole above water was safe.
And several months later. I have 8 z layers (our main staircases) filled with water. One dwarf got stuck outside the fort and nearly died of dehydratation by the time I realized.

> Want another fun fact ?
One baby got lost by her mother during the flood and the flowing water brought him right into the dump hole. Right below the atom smasher.
I couldn't (didn't want) get him out of there. He died of thirst months later.

Let's keep on going !

- Created a magma reservoir. Linked it to the pump stack.
- Created a water tank. Used it to salvage my water error from before. Now, the water is in the tank, and not in the staircases (or at least not in all of them).
- Created a dwarven reactor. Linked it to pump stack.

I DECLARE I AM FINISHED!

I only had time for a quick play, so all I did was a bit of housekeeping (and admiring all the work that was done with the dwarven reactor and magma pumps).

I assigned a captain of the guard and met both her and the mayor's needs, although I think we need more cages and chains for justice.

The tavern was getting really rambunctious, with quite a few barfights and deaths. I think that was mainly because it was too crowded, so I doubled it in size to give the revelers some space to party.

After some barfight-related injuries, I realized we didn't have a chief medical dwarf, so I found an idler who found helping others emotionally rewarding and gave her the job (and enabled all medical labors on her). I then improved the hospital a bit, adding traction benches, moving the surgery tables to be closer to the patient beds, and adding some chests to store thread and other sundries.

I pastured some hungry grazing animals that were wandering the stone hallways, and set up some repeating "shear animal" and "spin thread" jobs in the manager to deal with our thread shortage.

We didn't actually have any temple zones set up for some reason, and many dwarves were getting distracted about being unable to pray, so I set up three... one for the god of disease (in the appropriate room with the windows into the refuse stockpile), one for the god of death (in the necropolis), and one for no particular deity (outside the brawling tavern).

I also moved our human bowman into a new archer squad, but didn't get around to assigning them barracks yet.

Here's the save!

That's curious, I've had dwarves meditate on diseases in there.

Anyway, great :D And the magma pumps are indeed impressive, Spriggans.

I might have taken out the temples when trying to figure out why the iron minecarts weren't made...
Forgot to put them back on.

But yeah, I played quite a lot this turn xD
But now that we have magma, good things will happen :)
What to do with it is up to the next player !

I DECLARE I AM PLAYING
JK turns out I have stuff to do, and didn't play long enough to warrant uploading a save.

Please dorf me as the next baby born (male or female).  If he/she lives long enough, then their spouses and children must also be dorfed with the same name: "Timeless".  I hope to create an entire dynasty of Timeless Dwarves.

Are we upgrading to 0.43.03? I'm assuming the save will be compatible.

Also, Bob, you can dorf yourself! There's no queue for who can play, and the save is currently up for grabs.

Yeah, except I'm not able to understand the strictly ascii vanilla version.  I usually use a graphics pack to figure out what is what, (which you've forbidden in the rules.)  I want to respect your game - this is really a neat concept that I might klept for a "Luckiest Tourist Ever" adventure mode game in the future.

I DECLARE I AM PLAYING

I'm gonna bring some FUN to this fortress. Since the thread seems to die because of too easyness.

My goal :
- Retire the fortress.
- Play as an adventurer.
- With said adventurer :
  • Steal a necromancy book
  • Kill a vampire, gather his blood in a bag or something
  • Get biten by a werebeast.
- Go to the fortress and share the Fun. The idea is to have 3 castes.
