What mod is this, if I may ask?
It's a personal project that I haven't released yet - I was going to when I was starting this thread, but due to finding bugs and doing some adjustments, I've been postponing it for a while now.

Also, sorry guys - no update for today, I was doing it but due to some construction work right next to my flat they apparently had to cut the electricity for a few minutes, and I lost all the progress I made in the last few hours.

After watching the performance by the poets, the three companions left, as it appeared some of the two-humans were leering at them with suspicion - their presence was clearly unwelcome.

Heading further west, through the snow-covered Hill of Ash, they came upon another forest coven, Touchywicked. In the cover of the night, Shasi snuck into one of the tree houses, where a stockpile of weapons was located. He stole an iron dagger and a khorium morningstar, as replacements for his copper sai and silver club.

Another forest retreat, Fortressbegin, was in their way down south - however, the oppressive presence of the servants of the Elder Ones wasn't present. Instead, two other races made up the population of the coven.

The more numerous inhabitants were the Sayaad, more commonly known as the Succubi and Incubi. They were demons, although they were more neutral than their brethren - most would simply indulge in various carnal pleasures, and often fell in love with the warlocks who brought them into this world. They resembled humans, although with hooves, horns and wings - they were also unnaturally beautiful and most mortals had trouble resisting them.

The other race were mutated humanoids - the Lost Ones, off-shots of the Draenei. They didn't resemble their brethren anymore, being too corrupted. While they still had some hold on their sanity, most of their former intelligence was replaced with a dangerous, highly advanced cunning. Due to this, they were naturally good at ambushes and assassination, and their talents were often employed by various nobles and other influential figures, in order to remove potential threats to their rule.

Rahem Moralwhisper, disciple of the seer Ruraeka Plainmusics, explained that while Fortressbegin was originally another coven of the Deteriorated Target, it had been destroyed nearly 40 years ago by a mad red Dragon, Ustra Goldjade the Wealth of Luxury. The Short Snarl of the Reticence of Artifices, the nearby society of Lost Ones, decided to reclaim it a few months ago, as the Two-humans were encroaching on their lands, and this ruined retreat was a good strategic location to watch for potential strike forces.

The disciple allowed the three to stay at the site until dawn - afterwards, they had to move on their journey west, and so they did. A man-made road was present, and it lead further north. Following it, the companions eventually found a town, Mineshuts, with two smaller hamlets nearby.

The three wandered around the town, although most of it was empty. Most houses were ruined, and the ones that were still in good shape were completely abandoned. The warehouse was filled with various items, simply left behind when the town was destroyed. However, amidst the sounds of the rainstorm, Shasi heard someone talking in the nearby tavern.

Upon investigating, the two residents of the tavern gasped at Shasi's sight, but quickly calmed down when the two Vrykul reassured them that the N'raqi was an anomaly and didn't serve the Elder ones.
One of the people present at the tavern was Dunarn Mothgems, an iron dwarf. Shasi was aware of what he was, as the Iron Guardians would often clash with the N'raqi, whenever the latter tried to take over their strongholds.

The other inhabitant was Yranal Tongsslips, a Draenei pikewoman. She explained that she and Dunarn were simply treasure hunters, exploring the ruins of the town in hopes of finding something interesting. They hadn't been to the town's keep yet, and decided to tag along with Shasi's group for this endeavour - would be easier to face any potential opposition with a bigger group.

The few inhabitants of the keep included a Dark Troll - the fifth and most reclusive type of trolls. They were bigger than their relatives, and quite a fair bit more brutish and savage. They rarely took part in the other trolls political games and mostly kept to themselves, not interacting much with other races, outside of violent conflicts or mercenary work.

The administrator of the town was an orc, Guxem Crevicehonored - his group, the Ambiguous Councils of the Kingdom of Passing, took over Mineshuts after it was decimated by several wars. Another army was on the march - the Unseen Confederations, a civilization of Nerubians, sent an army led by the fel orc Ezoggugg Polishpass to take the town over once again.

A few other people were present at the keep - the orc bard Thaxuk Factionnut, the broken lasher Imul Closetbathe, the jungle troll blowgunner Z'alo Reignlulled, and lastly the iron vrykul marksman Normer Tubesmountain. All were mercenaries hired by Guxem to help with the defense of the keep, as reinforcements from the Kingdom of Passing weren't readily available.

Mineshuts was originally a town of beast men - however, not all of them had been killed and fled into the underground. Guxem asked Shasi and the others to clear them out, as he was busy preparing the keeps defenses for the upcoming battle - in exchange they could take whatever was in the dungeon's treasury.

The group of five eventually managed to find the treasury, which had been the hideout of the beast men - some two-humans were present as well. Most were asleep, although sounds of more could be heard nearby. The ones still asleep all died at the hands of Shasi's group. The few who weren't ran away further into the dungeon's corridors - although, as it turned out, it was ultimately a foolish decision, as there was no other way out of the treasury.

The beast men and two-humans were too terrified of their opponents to be able to put up a good fight - as such, most of them died without putting up any sort of resistance.
After their job was done, the group searched through the piles of equipment and other objects on the floors - Dunarn took a khorium shield and an iron sabre, whereas Yranal switched out her bismuth bronze pike for a khorium one - lastly, Shasi took a dark iron spiked club as a backup weapon. They left afterwards, in order to explore the rest of the town, although found nothing of note besides a marketplace with various leftovers and an abandoned temple.

After several days of travel, the five found a sizable town - Thrownmysteries. It belonged to the a group of Ice Trolls from the Confederation of Wine. While they weren't the most welcoming hosts, they didn't mind most other races as long as they didn't cause any trouble. Regardless, Shasi's group didn't plan on staying long - they had other places to find. A nearby labyrinth, Filthparch, was said to house a powerful beast - hopefully it would prove to be a worthy challenge for Shasi's group.

After more days of wandering, they eventually found more pillars jutting from the ground, and a staircase leading downward in the middle of them. They went downward, not knowing what to expect.

Shouting rang out throughout the maze soon after the five stepped foot into it. It appeared that whatever creature was here was completely insane and delirious - this would certainly make for a dangerous opponent.

Osene Halecontrol was a Burning Wrath - a being cursed long ago for their uncontrollable rage. It's muscles were grotesquely enlarged and swollen - regardless, it still walked upright. It's veins were noticably glowing from the inside, and it's eyes had a reddish glow to them.

Upon seeing Shasi standing right in front of him, Osene grew even more enraged, the glow within him burning even brighter.

Shasi was surprised by the speed at which Osene moved - he almost didn't notice as his arm was grotesquely torn by a series of furious scratches.

A bite caused further damage to his arm, causing a large amount of greyish blood to spill out of the wounds.

In retaliation, Shasi struck Osene's leg, tearing enough of his muscles to make him fall over - large amounts of a glowing liquid leaked out of the wound. Magma.

Even crippled and on the ground, the personification of wrath lunged forward and grabbed hold of Shasi's foot. Massive pain surged through it, due to the heat.

Shasi swung wildly, trying to loosen Osene's grip, eventually hitting him in the head hard enough to shatter his skull. Seeing as Osene went limp, Shasi assumed that he was dead. This was seemingly proven correct as Osene's body quickly burned from the inside, leaving nothing behind, not even ashes.

Shasi quickly took off some of the clothes that were spattered with magma, leaving them to burn away. The five left the labyrinth and set up a campsite not far away from it, tending to Shasi's wounds, especially the burns around his stomach area. It was quite enough excitement for the day.

OOC: Sorry for the lack of updates in the past few days - been somewhat busy. In any case, I've released my modpack - you can find it in my sig.

How many injuries does Shasi have now?
Right now he only has the burns from the fight with Osene. The pulping blows he took from him and also the Behemoth earlier don't seem to cause scarring and they're non-permanent too, so he's still in pretty good shape.

Did this Thread die?
Nah, I've just been a bit busy again with RL stuff - I'll make another update soon.

After resting outside of Filthparch, next to the nearby river, Shasi's group decided to head further west - more beasts awaited.

Not far from Osene's labyrinth lay a lair, called the Frothy Suckers. Apparently it was home to a voracious abberation, Aru Licestench the Larval Gall. Sightings of Aru were rare, as the wretch never stayed in the villages it attacked for long. It devoured livestock whole, and occasionally any guards that would try to kill it.

As the five approached the lair, a wave of unbearable stench hit them. Even Shasi, despite not being able to smell, felt a burning sensation in his mouth and throat, seemingly blocking off any clear air available. An accusatory scream of two voices rang out from the cavern - it appeared that Aru, like Osene, was also completely delusional.

Aru eventually showed herself, charging out from her lair. She was what was known as an Unending Gluttony - a grotesque abomination that made even the likes of Fjolarn retch; whatever species she once belonged to was completely unknown, all traces of her features gone. Shasi surmised that Aru was once a female, due to the two sagging, tumorous lumps on her upper body and her somewhat slender-looking limbs. Her head was completely misshapen - where the face should be, instead there was a large gaping maw full of sharp fangs, and an eye sprouted from the top of her head. Several more orange-irised eyes were present on different spots on Aru's body, lidless, and constantly darting around as though looking for more things to devour. The most striking feature was a second maw on her stomach - it appeared to have it's own vocal cords, as it spoke in unison with Aru's head, producing a somewhat disturbing effect of both voices speaking at the same time.

Both of Aru's mouths made a gurgling sound as she threw up a caustic, orange fluid. While Shasi managed to block the vomit, the liquid still bubbled and left a trail of vapors behind it - the burning sensation in the Unbroken's throat got even worse, and Fjolarn, Borvar and Yranal were all starting to look nauseous. Dunarn was the only one unaffected, due to his mechanical nature.

A bite from Aru's stomach maw managed to latch onto Yranal's arm, tearing it in multiple spots and causing blood to gush. She then shook around and the Draenei's arm was torn completely from the socket - a horrid crunching was heard as the gluttonuos monstrosity devoured it in front of their eyes.

Stumbling in shock, the pikewoman didn't notice as Aru swung wildly at her with her grotesque claws, and the blow tore Yranal's head right off her neck. A new emotion stirred in Shasi as he swung wildly with his morningstar - despite his newly-found rage at the loss of a companion, his blows were uneffective, only causing minor damage.

Fjolarn shouted for Shasi to get back, and charged at Aru, cleanly severing her hand and causing orange blood to spurt from the stump. The pain caused the wretch to shriek in pain, an unbearable sound, before a downward slash from the axeman cut the entire length of Aru's upper body in half. Even more blood sprayed all over the cavern floor and walls, before the personification of gluttony fell onto the ground with a loud thud.

Further in the lair, a table was present - on it were several dead, mutilated rats, as well as a the skull of a human-like creature pinned to it with a fork. Some flesh was still on the skull, although most of it was scrubbed away onto the table. There was also a cauldron present, with blood, a second skull, even more dead rats and a single rat that was mashed into a paste-like consistency.

The remaining four left the cave, taking Yranal's body, head and pike, and set up a funeral pyre. After the flames went out and only ashes remained of her body, Shasi's group packed up and went further west - a town was marked on their map, Spreadtruss, belonging to the naga expedition of the Confederacies of Impunity - it was a good destination for their travels.

The group had to stop for a while at the hamlet of Relievedbites, where they were attacked by a group of ogres. The brutes vastly underestimated their enemy, and paid the price for it.

Further south, the companions were once again stopped by some bandits - draconians this time, two drakonids and a dragonkin. Although, seeing as they were outnumbered, one of the drakonids and the dragonkin fled the battle while Shasi's group was busy with an axeman. They would have to be found again later - for now the four continued their journey towards Spreadtruss.

After a few more days, they reached their destination - Spreadtruss was a very large town, the capital of the Confederacies of Impunity and it's most important hub of trade. The four went towards the keep in the centre of it, looking for more work.

Sounds of fighting came from within the keep, and Shasi noticed a badly injured dwarf crawling through the snow - not a good sign.

Opening the doors to the throne room, a horrid stench of bodily fluids and sweat hit the group. Once again, Shasi was the least affected by this. He almost tripped over the corpse of an orc laying face down in a pool of his own blood. He immediately noticed two nagas cowering in fear near the walls of the room, as a large, horrid abomination was facing them.

Nirizah Notchedshoveled was the Sacred Splash of Spreadtrussed's local religious group. It appeared however, that despite her position, she was filled with sin and therefore was cursed by the very deities she worshipped into assuming the form of a Cursed Lust. Her entire body had an almost gangrenous texture to it, and some parts were covered with cancerous tumors - her breasts were also grotesquely swollen and lumped with the same deformities. The tentacles sprouting from her back ended in malformed claws with misshapen fingers for grasping prey, and her tongue was grossly elongated, being more like a tentacle.

As she was already crippled by fighting with the soldiers present at the keep, the fight wasn't as difficult as it could have been. Sluggishly crawling across the ground, she simply tried to lash ineffectively with her tongue at Shasi and a naga bard, who, upon seeing the four companions entering the throne room, gained the courage to fight.

After several more dodges and other attacks, a bash from Shasi's morningstar put an end to the mutated Nirizah's life. A large amount of indigo blood spurted out of the wound, covering the room's floor.

Although Shasi believed that he was helping, it appeared that the local religious group considered this to be blasphemy, and considered Nirizah to be blessed by their deity, instead of cursed. Several guards flooded the room, and Fjolarn and Borvar decided to stay behind while Shasi and Dunarn escaped.

The two decided to head towards Toothgilded, a village not far to the west - it was supposed to be relatively free from the influences of Nirizah's cult. However, right outside of the hamlet's premises, a large creature attacked Shasi and Dunarn.

This humanoid beast was what was known as an Eliminator - their overall silhouette was similar to the Minotaurs, just bigger. However, their horned head was actually a steel helmet. Noone actually knew what the head under the helmet looked like - rumors say that a scholar once managed to remove it from a living Eliminator, and was later found as nothing more than an unrecognizable puddle of gore; for that matter, there are no reports of witnessing the exact moment an Eliminator is born. Regardless, they made for quite difficult opponents, due to their almost natural combat prowess - in particular, they are very skilled with hammers, for unknown reasons. Some races such as the goblins or two-humans were seemingly able to placate them and turn them into servants - their size made them good for physical labors, wheter it be mining, or wagon-pulling, or simply serving as mounts; often they'd also be equipped with more armor and large war hammers, and sent into battle as powerful soldiers.

This one was thankfully unarmed - it charged wildly at Dunarn, attempting to smash him with it's bare fists, but missed, which allowed the iron dwarf to cut through the Eliminator's leg, making it fall over. More attacks from Shasi and Dunarn broke several of its bones and tore many arteries.

Many more attacks later, the Eliminator went almost completely limp, unable to move from exhaustion. As khorium was quite a bit stronger than even steel, Shasi managed to completely split the creature's head open with another blow from his mace.

After an few more hours, the two reached the residence of the mayor of Toothgilded, Rraja Vesselpools. Despite initial surprise at Shasi's appearance, she allowed him and Dunarn to stay for the night. She recommended the two head north afterwards, as there have been reports of trouble from the towns of the Empires of Light, the Crowded Gate and the Ordered Day of Cups - a draconian and two draenei expeditions, respectively; they certainly could use the help of some skilled warriors.

One of the mercenaries, Kataz Dawncarnal, a naga axeman, overheard Shasi's and Rraja's conversation. He decided to join him and Dunarn on this adventure, as he was quite bored of keeping watch over the local village. Shasi decided he could use a replacement for Fjolarn and Borvar. They then went to the hamlet itself, to Kataz's house, where they slept through the night.

OOC: Good enough spot to stop for now, I suppose - glad there's been a lot more new beasts in this update. In any case, I'll hopefully be able to do updates more frequently now - sorry for the recent wait. I'm also considering copying the world over to my 43.04 folder once Shasi retires/dies, hope you guys will be ok with that.

Seems like it right now - currently he's a Professional Maceman/Fighter, Competent Dodger, Adequate Shield/Armor User, and also a Legendary Tracker (somehow - I think I had it enabled for long enough or something).

I'll make a new update soon-ish, definitely today, though. Might take a while to write up

The next day, the companions continued their journey up north. It was quite a long journey to the territory of the Empires of Light, and they would have to find spots where they could rest - even if it meant taking them over from hostile bandits or beasts.

The first stop was the camp of Tiredstances, home to the brigands called the Geniuses of Chewing. They were a small group, consisting only of 2 nagas and 2 orcs.

The two nagas were asleep and so died unaware of their assailants. The orcs, including the bowwoman ringleader, Ulor Gangstroke, were somewhat more aware of what was going on, but still fell easily due to being outnumbered and outskilled.

After resting, the three eventually found themselves in the Desert of Gleaming, which marked the half-way point between the Confederacies of Impunity and the Empires of Light. A large mountain range was present near the desert as well - the Frigid Teeth. Although Kataz warned Shasi against exploring that region, due to it supposedly being an area where horrid, unnatural creatures dwelled, Shasi's curiosity got the better of him; having no options, the Naga and Iron Dwarf followed him.

As they neared the mountain, the three heard loud screeching from above. Several humanoid figures were present in the sky - gargoyles. These winged fiends were only found aboveground in regions tainted by evil - few ventured there, and fewer came back to tell the tale. Despite their humanoid appearance, the gargoyles were more akin to wild animals, attacking those who strayed too near their nesting grounds and mercilessly hunting down prey. They didn't discriminate between eating the living or the dead - carrion was easy picking for them, but even creatures capable of fighting back had a hard time of doing any significant damage to them, due to their stone-like skin, something that also made their attacks quite a bit more deadly.

Their raw strength was shown when one of them grabbed Dunarn and broke his wrist - thankfully, due to being an automaton, he felt no pain or discomfort, and the attack only caused him to drop his shield.

In retaliation, both Dunarn and Kataz attacked the fiend, causing some major damage - thick, gray blood spurted out of the wound, alongside what appeared to be tiny specks of stone.

As the Naga was focusing on hacking one of the stone monsters to pieces, another one dive-bombed from the sky - the last thing Kataz saw was a gargoyle's clawed foot, outstretched and aimed directly for his head.

Shasi didn't even notice Kataz's death, as he was busy dealing with another gargoyle - after that was taken care of, he turned around, only to see his companion's body, and their killer flying away, dropping bits of blood from it's wounds.

Feeling what mortals would consider "guilt" for indirectly leading to this Naga's death, Shasi gave chase to this particular gargoyle, eventually finding it resting nearby a herd of zombified kangoose snailfin goats - even the dead could not rest in this land. Dunarn distracted them, allowing Shasi to close in on the wounded fiend and get revenge for Kataz's death. The only task that remained afterward was to kill the undead animals, which proved to be easy enough - Dunarn and Shasi left the Frigid Teeth afterwards, deciding to continue their journey before they came upon something even more deadly than the gargoyles.

When night was falling yet again, the two found a small burrow in the ground. It was home to another cave brute, Hazra Yearstyle the Sad Influences.

Having some experience with such monsters now, Hazra wasn't much of a challenge for Shasi - fighting her still took a bit longer than it should have, but the end result was the same.

As the two travelled through the Jungle of Dimpling, very close to the settlements of the Empires of Light, a shot rang out through the quiet woods. Dunarn immediately jumped in front of Shasi, deflecting a pellet aimed at his leg. The sound of someone scrambling to their feet was heard and the Iron Dwarf charged towards the direction of the sound.

A Dwarf marksdwarf armed with a blunderbuss rifle was hiding among the snow-covered shrubbery - he introduced himself as Bal Knotjungle and demanded for Dunarn to stand down, as he was going to kill the "abomination", in reference to Shasi. The mechanized construct had none of it, however, and simply attacked.

After several deep cuts from Dunarn's sabre, Shasi demanded that the dwarf yield. Although initially cooperative, Bal quickly tried attacking Shasi from behind, to no avail.

Seeing this, the Iron Dwarf simply delivered more slashes at the monster hunter, and he eventually succumbed to his injuries. Shasi wondered if this confrontation was truly neccessary, but after a few minutes of deliberation, he and Dunarn decided to continue onward.

They eventually reached the hamlet of Gleamdrooped. Most of it was abandoned or in ruins, although the mead hall still stood strong.

Unlike what Shasi expected, the inhabitants of it were dwarves. Although they didn't immediately try to kill him on sight, like Bal, they didn't like the Unbroken wanderer's presence. Believing this could lead to more conflict, he and Dunarn simply left for Princefires, the closest village.

The lord of the village, a dragonkin named Elorm Weighttender, seemingly expected Shasi's appearance. He wasn't frightened or surprised in the slightest - he simply told the Unbroken that he sensed his presence long before he arrived at the mead hall. The draconian filled Shasi in on the actions of the Northern Coalition, as well as the troubles they've been facing - Elorm knew that the N'raqi was curious and wanted to learn more about the world, and said that doing some work for the Empires of Light and the Coalition would certainly show him more and allow him to explore many new regions. Before Shasi left, Elorm warned him that some of the nearby lords had been afflicted with horrid curses, warping their bodies...

OOC: Bit shorter of an update, but quite a lot still happened. Next time we'll explore the towns of the Empires of Light, see what they have, and face one of the last Seven Deadly Sins incarnations.

Draenei Warrior: "Nooo!!! Sweet Yranal! ...why, oh why. That sweet indigo skin colored, sky blue eyed beauty. I can remember her broad head and her sweet dark violet hair arranged in double braids, she loved to braid her hair.. I already miss her smile and the way her lips moved when she talked... this cruel world why have they taken you from me!?!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFPB2uguk24

Droggarth the Hel-Brute: "Don't worry, I'll make sure her spirit finds a way back to you. Though demonic I might be. I'm only demonic to fight the the demonic. I have even taken down some evil gods. No small feat. But that's the story for another time..."

Anyhow, I think you derped/typod hard ZM5:

It's "Aru" ..not "Atu". o_o Thought you might wanna fix it.

In terms of the story, kinda surprised actually that Shasi is still going.

Fixed the typo, thanks. I admit I was somewhat tired when I was doing the update and for whatever reason I saw "Atu" instead of "Aru". Or perhaps its the Mandela effect or something, like the Berenstain/stein bears.
Shasi's gotten pretty badass - I admit I didn't expect him to survive this long myself.

Before heading out, a dragonspawn maceman by the name of Galon Sunrelieve stopped Shasi and decided to tag along with him and Dunarn - the draconians had a profound sense of duty, and Galon was no exception - he believed that he should help the N'raqi stave off the corruption of the surrounding lands, and slay any unnatural beasts who would prey upon the innocent.

Their first stop was the hamlet of Runmute - the village's lord had been cursed and laid a series of oppressive edicts, forcibly taking the food and money from the villagers. He had to be removed from power, one way or another.

The lord, Marararu Fancieddined, had been transformed into an Insatiable Greed. He resembled a centauroid, metallic bull - two wings sprouted from his midsection, and a layer of gold covered his skin and hooves. His head was more like a metallic mask - the mouth didn't move as he spoke with an echoing, deep voice, one that sounded as though it had been muffled by the metal. While he certainly wasn't as grotesque as the previous incarnations of sin that Shasi faced, Marararu was still a cursed being and had to be put down.

The lord pointed at Shasi with one of his hands, a golden glow shining from it. Immediately, the N'raqi's vision became clouded, and he struggled to move around. Dunarn and Galon ran in front of Shasi, so as to prevent an immediate attack from Marararu.

The lord charged straight at the Iron Dwarf, managing to tear off Dunarn's arm just with the sheer force of his horns. While it wasn't as distracting to a construct like him, it still made him quite a bit more vulnerable in combat.

Galon didn't fare much better, taking a hit to the foot which completely mangled it - as he was recoiling, Marararu threw him aside. The Dragonspawn landed on his own arm, bending it at an unnatural angle and causing tears in his scales. Shasi managed to somewhat fight off the effects of the lord's spell, and joined the fight.

As Marararu was still distracted by Dunarn and Galon, having seemingly forgotten about Shasi, he didn't notice as the Unbroken unleashed a flurry of attacks from behind, chipping his hoof and eventually dealing enough damage to the lord's spine to prevent him from moving at all. Unfortunately, the incarnation of Greed still managed to deal one last blow to Dunarn, breaking off his leg.

Eventually, as Marararu was laying on the ground, struggling to breathe, Shasi simply stepped up to him and bashed him in the head, causing enough damage to the brain to put the lord down.

Shasi then walked to the village itself, and left Dunarn in the hands of the local engineers - perhaps they could eventually reattach his limbs. Regardless, for now he was definitely in no shape to fight. Galon and Shasi decided to head for the town of Bridgebutton, where a criminal gang was said to dwell - also, the tavern would definitely have a mercenary that could replace Dunarn.

While the two were resting, they were woken up by a sound of loud footsteps approaching in the night, accompanied by a growl. Shasi turned around just in time to see a large wooden claw aimed directly for his head. A loud crack was the only sound he heard as he collapsed to the ground, unable to move.

The last things he saw as his consciousness slipped away was Galon being surrounded by the treants, who started to tear him apart.

OOC: Well that was an anti-climax. I got lucky at the fight with the Insatiable Greed lord as he wasted his gold breath attack which could have turned me into a golden statue at which point I'd be dead - of course then I had to get unlucky with resting in a bad spot and being unable to do anything as a treant punched my head. Keep in mind they're the same size as Shasi too (WC3 treant design, so they're not much larger than most humanoids), so yeah, they're pretty damn strong.

Anyway, here's the poll - now the choice is between Draconian, Orc, Osh-tekk, Demon and Dark Troll.

Yeah, I admit I laughed a bit but it followed some disappointment. To be perfectly honest, I was sorta expecting this - if a massive amount of beasts could barely scratch Shasi, then he'd have to die from something stupid like this. Oh well, atleast I fought most of the Seven Deadly Sins creatures in this. Only Sloth left (I haven't made Envy yet, though I do have a concept for it, only problem is working it into the game).

Anyway, third beastiary entry - I'll end the polling on Saturday.

Beasts - Pt. 3

Cockatrice
Large bird-like monsters, possessing the body of a black, quadruped beast, huge wings, and the head of a rooster.

These beasts are very deadly, mostly for their ability to spew a petrifying gas that is stored in the sacs on their throats. It's possible, although difficult, to puncture it, which makes them unable to use it's breath attack.

Even without the ability to petrify any traveler unlucky enough to come across it, a Cockatrice still possesses large claws which can easily sever limbs, and it's bites are nothing to scoff at either - I've seen an unlucky villager get torn in half after the beast latched onto his torso and started shaking.

Interestingly, the petrification doesn't appear to simply turn the afflicted to stone - the process, in a presumably excruciating manner, appears to reshape the victim into other forms, including completely different types of body or even multiple individuals, before stopping. The resulting statue appears as though it had been crafted by a master mason.

Gargoyle
Winged, humanoid fiends. It appears they are attracted to whatever causes some parts of the world to become corrupted, as they are found nowhere else - otherwise, they have no particular preference for any climate.

They are carnivores, and will eat both the living and the dead - they seemingly prefer to feast upon those who have died recently or who are still alive, although they won't turn away from long-dead carrion. Gargoyles are also pack animals, and are almost never found alone - should you decide to explore one of the tainted regions, don't forget to look to the sky for any groups of them.

A layer of stone covers most parts of their external body - piercing through it might be a bit difficult, and it certainly makes their punches and kicks a lot more painful. It appears that this stone is atleast partially organic, as it heals very quickly, along with their skin.

Don't be fooled by their humanoid appearance - in terms of intelligence, gargoyles are more similar to wild animals than any living being. They don't respond to any emotional appeals, and they cannot be domesticated - all they care about is feeding. Of course, they also have an instinct for self-preservation, and if you can kill a few members of a gargoyle pack, the others should flee.

Chimera
An unnatural beast - it has three heads - a lion, a goat, and a reptile, a pair of bat wings, and a scorpion's tail. Quite rare, they seem to often make their lairs in ruined shrines.

As with most multi-headed creatures, they can bite with all three heads at once - combined with their size, it allows them to easily rip any smaller creature to shreds. Their stingers also house a powerful venom - I've seen those unfortunate enough to have been stung by one of these beasts, and I've yet to see someone survive it - it seems to completely paralyze the body, including the lungs.

Their wings are powerful enough to carry them through the air, despite their weight - this makes it more difficult to flee, should a fight with one go badly.

They are most likely the results of strange experimentations performed by wizards and the like - while the chimera panics, it appears its heads struggle for control of the body, something that doesn't happen in other multi-headed creatures. It appears the lion's head is in control most of the time, unless it is decapitated, in which case another head becomes responsible for moving the body.

Griffon
A majestic, proud quadruped with wings. It has the head and front legs of an eagle, and the back legs of a lion.

It appears they never hunt for sport, unlike a lot of the more exotic beasts I've come across. However they appear to hold grudges and will track those who attempt to harm them, possibly back to their settlements, at which point they'll raid them, causing potentially large amounts of destruction and casualties.

They don't appear to have any special abilities - they don't really need them, though, as their ferocity and size alone are enough to kill even the most seasoned warriors. A scratch from its talons is enough to sever whole arms and legs - it's beak can do the same.

It is possible to domesticate them - I've known adventurers who would sneak into Griffon lairs and simply steal their eggs, then raise the babies when they hatched. They make great mounts and very loyal companions, if tamed.

Mammoth
Relatives of the elephants, they have adapted to the cold regions of the world.

They are covered with a large amount of wooly fur - quite useful for clothing. There is not much more to say about them - they are slightly more aggressive than their relatives from the savannas, but otherwise act similarly. They can even be domesticated and trained for war or as mounts.

Shoveltusk
Territorial herbivores, found in the cold regions of the world.

They possess a single large antler, and two tusks. Both of these are used for defending themselves, and also to establish dominance.

While not very aggressive, they will nonetheless get agitated if one was to stray too close them - at which point, it's best to simply run, as they can easily kill a lone traveller.

Races such as the Vrykul use them as pack animals. They can also be used as mounts, when tamed.

Mossrova
Fungal, vaguely bovine-like quadruped.

They are generally a peaceful and skittish animal, very rarely attempting to retaliate, and preferring to run from any predators.

However, while they are unlikely to kill any traveller directly, they are able to indirectly kill those who eat their meat or drink their blood. Due to the hallucinogens coursing through their system, their different organs can cause different effects. Most of them have a period where one feels great, and, for example, doesn't need to sleep, eat or drink, but that is often followed by a withdrawal period, with symptoms such as drowsiness, or bleeding from the eyes.

Other organs, most notably the brain, have no positive effects to speak of - they will instead cause vivid, terrifying hallucinations, often driving the afflicted into a confused frenzy. While they may calm down after some time, oftentimes they have to be put down, due to them becoming violent. For this reason, most races simply don't attempt to domesticate them.
