While the pony ranch survived a devestating wererat attack(and the following plague), it found a swift death today by the hand of a webbing hill giant.

Season 1 is nearing an end since there is only one dwarf left, he is in hospital, cant move and might starve any minute.
Migrants are also no option since we got a wave right into the attack.

The fort ran 3 weeks 24 hours a day.

Episode two might start in some hours. (We'll let the remaining dwarf have his horrible death first)

Curious, will you put up the saves for each season in the channel description?

Since i backed the saves up that is possible.

As soon as the season ends I check them and might upload some of the interesting ones.

What are the plans for the next fort ?
Which embark ? Which kind of fortress (underground, aboveground, cavern-ground) ?
I have some preferences for a volcano.

For visual enjoyement; since the stream' camera does move by following dwarves; a multi-z fort could be fun to watch : we could see randomly the layers with the living quarters or the hospital or what not, as dwarves path to them.

Im really glad people enjoy the stream.

The next fort is going to be much more of a natural challenge.
Im thinking on an embark in the ice. No trees, no water, no plants or gras.

I have to get the season ready though. That will take until tomorrow.

I also want to do so some recap stuff on the last season that i missed because of my vacation.

Normal glacier/tundra or deadly cold?

Hum deadly is always more Fun !

But you'll have to take good measures to "contain" the deadly-ness, otherwise, the fort could end quickly if you are AFK.

If unsure, can always go with "why not both".

Main real not-fun problem with deadly is that can build aboveground even less than with evil weather (not that there's much there, granted, but ice fortress is kind of cool.).

Unless maybe with magma floor heating? I guess ❄science❄ is required.

I tried an embarking szenario on a freezing ocean. After a short lagg everything crashed through the ice and drowned.
Fun... short but fun. :D

It'll be a  freezing tundra.

I want many ressources and untamed wilds next to all civilisations.

Since the world we have now doesnt feature a place like this im playing around with the world generation a little.

World gen is fun to play with. What version are you running with?

The version is 42.06. (The newer versions dont feel stable enough for a project like this)

I found a nice glacier near a tundra, so animals might come in from time to time.

This season might end very quickly though, as its my first embark without soil or water :D

Hm, looking at the stream there doesn't seem to be humans in range, unless they conquered another race's settlement?

You are a good observer. We dont have humans. I stoped after the eighth world generation and took the best site i could find.
But they are "meh" anyway. We got tree huggers and greenskins though.

Edit: The cursor is on the actual embark site now.

This season might end very quickly though, as its my first embark without soil or water :D

If there is no aquifer, just dig for the caves. Find a pool of water and set up a cistern.
Use some of this water to mud some ice and grow icy-farms ! \m/ That's the dwarven way.
If you're lazy, you can always farm in the caverns, which can be fun if the caverns can't be sealed quickly  :)
